Platte/Sullivan June 4th:
1st Place Guy Henkensiefken
15lbs 15ozs- Guy went down to Sullivan in the morning, but it was not
happening, so he headed back up to Platte and figured his best chance was to
concentrate on what he had there. In pre-fish he had found some undercut banks
that had some deeper water up on the North end of Platte. Guy worked his key
water a few different times during the day and he reported it was pretty slow
until he went back around 2PM when he put his best fish in the boat in short
order. Guy was primarily using craw tubes, but did catch some fish on a jig in
maidencaine.
Key- Being persistent and committed
to the right area so he was able to clean up when the fish turned on.
2nd Place Owen Lease 14lbs
15ozs- Owen would like to give credit to his boater Darren Kiefer for his
willingness to share information and the water; It made for a fun and rewarding
day. Owen caught his fish on a
Texas rigged lizard and craw tubes.
He reported that he caught his biggest fish (4/05) at the bridge fishing shortly
after Chuck Steinbauer’s boat had tried the area.
Key- Having a good day with a good
boater.
3rd Place Tony Bauer
14lbs 13ozs- Tony fished out of his own boat in this one and spent the day
in
Platte
Lake. He had success at a
particular rice point hitting it for fish several times throughout the day and
on laydowns around the big island. At one particular laydown he got a good
look at a big fish, but was unable to catch it; Tony went back to that same
spot later in the day and was able to land his big fish (3/14) for the day.
Key- Getting a quality limit and
perseverance.
Lunker: Art Becker 4lbs 6os- He
caught the big fish out of 2 feet of water on a wacky rigged senko in
Platte
Lake. He said Dennis did an
excellent job of netting the fish.
