There we were.  Armed with our WBD’s (weapons of bass destruction), and the proclamation from Nate Steinbauer that, “I’m here to chew gum and kick ass, and right now I’m out of gum.”  He proceeded to do just that by winning our opener on Whitefish with a limit of six weighing 16-12, a very nice first tourney weight.  Nate and his partner (the evil Johansen, finishing fourth) were mostly sight fishing smallies on Trout and the main lake.  He threw mostly tubes in colors of white, green, puke, and his lunker on bleeding puke.  I would guess his partner was throwing mostly up.  Nate also caught fish on a green jig and green Chomper.  Second place from the team in Brokeback Ranger was Dennis Lothspeich with a limit weighing 14-14, while limiting his partner, Miles Krueger,  to one fish, but he did get new kneepads.  Miles, to compete in this club you need to learn to multi-task.  Dennis’ fish (smallmouths) all came on tubes and all but one Trout Lake fish came from the main lake.  He also lucked in to the tournament lunker with a 3-14 behemoth, or was it a smallie?  Third place, with less weight than fourth place went to Bill Ludenia with a limit weighing 13-14, narrowly nosing out Chuck Johansen who weighed in 13-15.  Another olio of tactics were used as Bill weighed in two smalls and four large caught in Trout, Rush Lake flats, and docks, throwing tubes and Senkos.  Nice job men.     Bastards.

                                                    SHORTS

With one of your sport’s biggest stars named Dick Trickle, how can you not love NASCAR?

Big bass update – I have all of last year’s participants paid up except Herman and Don Johansen and added Chuck J..  A 5-8 or larger on Alex will get you $830 and from what I here, it may well go as many of you have reported catching fish of that size.  Pay up cheap pricks.  Excuse me, I misunderstood, many of you have reported catching six fish weighing a total of 5-8.

I fished Whitefish with no shoes on and scorched my feet.  As I left the beer store that afternoon, a woman claiming to be a doctor saw my feet and was sure I had photodermatitus.  Thinking quickly to myself that the cause was polymorphus light eruptions and fearing a case of porphyria, I sped home, took aspirin, and drank beer.  Lord knows what would have happened had that good Samaritan not spotted my condition.

Roger Ubl wanted to make sure the Rag acknowledged the work done by the Kieffers and all the other great cooks bringing food to the picnic.  He was very pleased and thanks to all.

Nuttin’ else gnu.  See you Sunday, 6:29AM

Forever yours,

Ruff
