Memorial Day weekend, the traditional beginning of Summer. Now I can wear those white shoes that I threw in the closet last Labor Day.
This also puts me back on the road again, heading towards home, after being away for 7 weeks. (Of course, I had only planned on being gone for 2, so I'm not doing *too* bad.) And when I get there, I will begin planning for the vacation at the beach.
Shirley was telling us about their last election here. Her part in it, anyway. She has a friend who is President of the Republican Women's Club, and agreed to help her by making phone calls to members reminding them of election day, to get out and vote, for whom, etc. She had to endure all the usual excuses and complaints associated with doing. But it wasn't until after about 200 calls that she remembered she is a Democrat.
Duppy tells us some hacker keeps getting into Hell's system, causing it to shut down. "Oh, hell!" he shouts when his beeper goes off in the middle of the night. And he promises us that when he finds out who is responsible, "they will have HELL to pay".
Rick has signed up to play in a charity golf game. It takes place at night and they will be using glow-in-the-dark balls. He's hoping this will be the trick to get his game back on course, since he's been slacking lately.
CoffeyMate took advantage of a warm afternoon and sat on the porch watching the Amish children next door play on their trampoline. A chipmunk scooted by and it reminded her of when she was a child herself, her grandfather offered her a reward of $2 if she could catch one. $5 for a rabbit, and $10 for a squirrel. She worked all Summer building various traps, she made nary a cent.
Opus/Oppie took his dog Lukie for a drive through the country, and thought to stop for a cool one. When he came out, some bikers were treating his pet to a beer of his own. Now he's worried about the dog. He says "I can't get him to take off the gang's colors, and he hasn't been sober since." He's looking for property in the southwest, hoping to get the dog straightened out.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS FOR MEMORIAL DAY-----
Well, I don't have time to check for spelling or grammar here, I'm being called to go to town.
