Icons I have written. Genuine hand painted
Byzantine style icons are intended to convey the Holy Scriptures to the viewer just as
surely as if you are reading the text of the Bible. You can see all of my

"Archangel Michael" Painted on panel, ca. 8x10 inches.
Acrylic & 23K gold leaf. Jan 2000. This was the first icon I had
painted in 30 years. I had done some icon painting as an undergrad at St.
Olaf College. This particular icon was done during a January 2000 term of
intensive study with Deborah Korluka, an Orthodox iconographer who taught the
course at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota.
"Hodigetria" Painted on panel, ca. 8x10 inches.
Acrylic & 23K gold leaf. Done in my own studio in Northfield, MN
in May 2000.
"St. Nicholas" Painted on "Daler/Rowney 'Cryla' paper"
mounted on wood panel, ca. 8x10 inches. Acrylic and 23K gold leaf,

"Holy Trinity - New Mexican style" Acrylic painted on panel, ca. 6x6
inches. Two copies
made. Given as gifts to friends upon their ordination as ELCA
pastors. Northfield, MN. June 2003.

These are the rural Kenyon, MN churches where I have
been pastor. Gol was founded in 1864 and Hegre in 1878 by
Pastor B. J. Muus, the first pastor of Holden Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon,
Minnesota. Pr. Muus and Holden Lutheran Church congregation founded St.
Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, my alma mater.
Hegre Lutheran Church, 5 miles South of Kenyon, Minnesota, on Highway
56. Pastor from October, 2002 to December 2007.
Gol Lutheran Church, 1 mile west of Kenyon, Minnesota - on Highway 60. I was Pastor here
from 1 April 2002 to 1 July 2005.
