R390A Restoration Project
Started July 2005
On a recent visit to my good friend John WA0ENE, I was given a R390A receiver to restore. I've always wanted a 390 since my old Navy Morse days. Now I have one to restore.

Click on each link for details on each section of the restoration. I hope that some if these details help future restorations.

Antenna Relay Block: The "unbalanced" connector was broken. See how I repaired and converted it for an SO239 connector.

IF Module: The IF module was original with the exception of a SSB product detector modification added by a previous owner.

The AF module was in such good shape that I don't think it warrants a separate page. I cleaned it and replaced 2 audio caps with .022 mf to broaden the audio response.

Front Panel Removal: Removing the front panel and cleaning the controls and switches.

Oscillator Module: Cleaning The Oscillator Module.

RF Sub Chassis: Restoring the RF Sub Chassis

Chassis cleaning and re-assembly Cleaning the chassis and re-assembly for testing.
