What is an EV Conversion?

An EV Conversion is taking a regular gas powered vehicle removing all the gasoline parts including engine and replace it with electrical components including an electric motor.

When I first started the conversion I thought that I would be able to drive this once in a while to save gas, but after I was done, it was so much fun to drive that I found myself driving it more than I did my gas vehicle.  Also I found that there was not many places I went that I could not get there with my electric truck.  So now my electric truck has 6,000 miles on it and I only put on about a 1,500 miles on my gas truck.  Another reason might be that it used to cost me 21 cents per mile with gas and only costs me 2 cents per mile with electricity.!!!!

Well it has been 18 months now since I have converted my Isuzu.  Here are some of the stats that I have found.

First off if you take the total amount of gas that I used in my gasoline pick-up it was 100 gals.  Now bear whith me for a minute.  If you take the total miles that I drove my gas Truck and my electric truck it was 7,500 miles.   Now take that 7,500 miles and divide by 100 gals of gas.   That equals 75 miles per gallon of gasoline.  So if you look at that I would have to buy a hybrid that got 75mpg.  Now if you take the total money spent on gas and divided that by total miles driven that would be $300 at $3 per gallon divided by 7,500 miles that would equal 4 cents per mile.  Now you have to add in the cost of electricity and say that cost 4 cents per mile figuring high that is still 8 cents per mile. Now if I drove that totally on gas it would have cost me 7,500 miles divided by 15 mpg equals 500 gallons of gas. Now if that averaged $3 dollars per gallon that would cost $1,500 dollars.  So divide that by 7,500 total miles and that comes to 20 cents per mile to drive on gas.  Now that does not include any maint on a gas vehicle.   Not bad if you ask me.

Now I have a solar system on order and I will use solar power for charging my truck.  Now I can here you saying that will cost you a fortune, but hold on there if you have not heard of renting solar take a look at this.

Not only that I have also been able to increase my milage on my gas truck to 21mpg. Check this out.
