Stars" philosophy [FASA].

The novel 'Moby Dick' is published. It will be a favorite of Khan Noonian
Singh by the 1990s. A tourist in 1986 at the Maritime Cetacean Institute
will ask if whales attack people as depicted in the novel. In 2063, Lily
Sloane will compare Picard to Ahab in his obsession to extinguish the

The novelist Arthur Conan Doyle is born on Earth, a possible ancestor
of Spock. He will become famous for his Sherlock Holmes stories which
will appeal to Lt. Commander Data and La Forge in the 2360s. They will
recreate Homesian adventures in the holodecks of the "Enterprise" and
the simulacrum of Professor James Moriarty, Holmes' adversary, will
achieve consciousness and threaten the ship in 2365 and 2369. Data
will give Dr. Pulaski a first edition of Sherlock Holmes stories as a
farewell present in early 2366 [ST VI, TNG 108, TNG 129, TNG 238, TNG #35,
TNG #52].

A.E. Housman, poet, is born on Earth. In 2263, Marta will claim to have

A Chronicle is started by a village on Boral II, logging the evolution of

James Matthew Barrie, the Scottish author of 'Peter Pan,' is born
on Earth. Captain Kirk will give Peter Pan's directions to
Never-Never Land in 2291 for one of the "Enterprise's" final headings

On Vulcan, Grand Master Siryk develops the Siryk Variations approach
