Jules Verne enters The Captain's Table bar [TCT #6].

The American Civil War begins on Earth. In 2373, Q will model the
Q Continuum upon this period of Terran history for Captain Janeway
to perceive. This is also the period of Colonel Thadeus Riker, one of
William T. Riker's ancestors [V 153, V 130].

Abraham Lincoln enters office as the 16th president of the United
States of America, on Earth. The Talosians will download this data from
the "Enterprise's" computer in 2248, among a considerable amount of
other information [Me].

1862
Victor Hugo writes his most popular novel 'Les Miserables.' By
2373 it will be one of Michael Eddington's favorites [DSN 511].

1863
The Nexus temporal energy ribbon again passes through our galaxy [ST VII].

1864
Colonel Thadeus "Old Iron Boots" Riker, in command of the 102nd New
York during General Sherman's March on Atlanta poses for a photo
with the philosopher Q (Quinn). Q carried Riker back from the front
line, saving his life [V 130].

1865
President Abraham Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
Booth will be treated by Dr. Mudd, whom Harry Mudd will later claim
to be a descendant of ("The Mudd family has been the target of
slander for nearly four hundred years"). Lincoln's death while in
office is stored in the "Enterprise's" library computer in 2248,
and the Talosians will take notice of it [TOS #81, Me].

The Zeator encounter the Slaughtered Worlds and their ships begin to
vanish. They temporarily retreat from space long enough to build up their
weapons technology and establish a defense around their homeworld
[TOS #32].

1866
Aaron Stemple purchases another town lot in Seattle, Washington on Earth
[TOS #23].

On Omega IV it is the Year of the Red Bird (plus or minus 5 years) [OG].

1867
The Klingon Empire (based in 2264) attempts to alter Earth's history
by assassinating Aaron Stemple, a minor government official. The
attempt fails due to Commander Spock's intervention [TOS #23].

Hundreds of criminals from the Ux-Mal system are separated from their
physical bodies and sent into exile on the moon of Mab-Bu VI [TNG 215].

The inhabitants of the planet Alaj develop spaceflight [TNG #14].
The moons of Peliar Zel are colonized [TNG 197].

07 November
The French physicist Marie Curie is born on Earth. She is one of
the historical figures which the "Voyager's" holographic doctor
will re-create on the holodeck in 2373 [V 161].

1868
Kruger's future house in the Old Quarter on Kronos is built [GN 13].

1869
Aaron Stemple becomes a member of the first school board of the town
Seattle, Washington on Earth, and is elected mayor [TOS #23].

Hatheby's of Earth and Cis-Lunar is formed during this era on Earth
[TNG #33].

02 October
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a nationalist leader, is born in India on
Earth. He is just one of many famous historical figures which
"Voyager's" holographic doctor will re-create on the starship's
holodeck in 2373 [V 161].

1870
Jules Verne writes 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.' In 2374,
Lt. Paris will appropriately compare Captain Annorax to Captain Nemo of
this novel, a book Paris had read countless times in his youth [V 177,
V 203].

1871
The planet Krantin begins to emerge from a long agricultural stage.
Another Krantin, located in an alternate reality, develops matter
transmission and unknowingly disposes of its garbage by transposing
it to its counterpart world. The Plague, an energy field effect, begins
to pollute Krantin's atmosphere in this continuum [TNG #36].

1872
The Bajoran wormhole again undergoes subspace inversion [DSN 476].

Aaron Stemple runs for territorial representative--a post which he will
succeed in attaining [TOS #23].

1873 (Karsid Imperial Year 1056.3)
The Karsid Empire attempts to infiltrate Earth. Increased resistance
delays, and later cancels, Karsid takeover. Revolts in the Orion
systems complicate matters [TOS #23].

On Earth, Colt Firearms invents the .45 caliber double-action
cavalry pistol [TNG 226].

On Urrytha in the Delta Quadrant, the last one to pass into the
"Long Sleep" during this period does so quicker than any successor
[V #12].

04 October
On the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Order of Little Mothers
is founded in Spain on Earth. Originally given the name Mothers of the
Hopeless, the organization will survive through the 24th Century
[TNG #27].

On war-torn Zondar, the great prophet Ontear predicts the coming of a
savior who will bring peace between the Unglza and Eenza. ("Look to the
stars for from there will come the Messiah! The bird of flame will signal
His coming! He will bear a scar, and He will be a great leader! And He
will unite our planet!") Ontear's acolyte Suti and his descendants will
see to its fulfillment. Ontear is no fraud, for he is using technology
from the Promethians to project himself into the future [NF #5, NF #6].

Approximately at this time, Kling is born on Kazh [TBoT #1].

1875
The office of offworld exploration is created on Vulcan. Prefect Savar
proclaims "Destruction before detection" as the first application of the
Vulcan Prime Directive [GN 2].

During the formulation of Vulcan's first contact protocols, the
Cupric Band political group is active. Their mistaken logic leads them
to reject the concept that intelligence is possible in beings with
non-copper-based blood [GN 26].

By this time, the Romulan Confederation has established colonies on 27
planets coreward [FASA].

This is also approximately the time when the Romulans encounter the planet
Andor. By luck, the Romulans' defensive shields collapse and they are
picked off by the primitive Andorian weapons. The only survivor is the
Romulan Emperor Vitellius. The Devil's heart falls into the hands of
Telev an Andorian healer, who uses its power to cure the victims of the
Scourge. The stone will become known as Telev's Bane up until the first
Andorian/Ferengi contact. The Ferengi will threaten the Andorian people
with whole-sale slaughter if not provided with trade merchandise. The
Devil's Heart is among the items of tribute which will be traded with the
technologically primitive world Kronos [GN 13].
