What is Kinship
All About?
Kinship of Rice Lake & Cameron is a private, non-profit mentoring program that matches adult mentors with children, ages 5-14, who are in need of an "extra adult" in their life. The purpose of Kinship is to improve the quality of a childs life by establishing a trusted, caring relationship with an adult volunteer for the purpose of promoting support, encouragement and friendship.
Children can be referred to Kinship by parents, teachers, counselors or pastors. They are usually from single-parent families and must be aged 5 through 14. To enroll your child or refer a child to Kinship, call 234-1995 or print out a referral form on the "Enroll a Child" page.
The matches between mentor and child are made with consideration given to interests, age, personality and needs. We ask them to spend a few hours together each week doing common, everyday things that they both enjoy.
