October 2004

Dear Parents and Students:

We have had a great start to the year!  I love this class and all the fun and funny little personalities.  Now that the brouhaha (ask your kids about that word) of the yearly startup has settled down somewhat, we are moving forward quickly and smoothly.

Thanks for all your help on our field trip to Crystal Peak. This is the first time the fifth grade has taken that trip, and we think it was very successful.  All of the kids and adults had a great time and learned something about the geology of Northern Nevada.

Please work with your kids on multiplication facts.  Many of them are stumbling in math just because they don't have their facts memorized, and I appreciate any help you could give me on this.

Don't forget Caughlin Fest on October 22.  It's always fun for families.  This year, we will be preparing a class theme basket to help with fundraising. Thanks also to our PTA, which has been very supportive of the teachers.

Meanwhile, call me at school or email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Kit McCormick

Websites of the Month: The Moonlit Road, ghost stories and strange folktales of the American South, told by the regions most celebrated storytellers.  Fun, and a little bit creepy.  Also, Savage Earth, a PBS site with many activities about process that change the Earth.
