Written Book Report

Your written book report will be a summary.  It should include the following:

&       Title

&       Author

&       Publisher

&       Genre (realistic fiction, historical fiction, mystery, fantasy, etc.)

You should write one paragraph (with topic sentence and supporting details!) that describes each of the following:

&       Description of the main character

&       Description of the setting (setting includes time and place)

Next, write a summary of the plot.  Remember, a summary is a retelling of the important details in your own words.  Each of these sections should be at least one paragraph:

&       How does the book begin

&       What is the problem (conflict) in the book

&       How is the problem (conflict) solved

Conclude your book report with a paragraph that expresses your opinion.

&       Did you like the book?  Why or why not?

&       Would you recommend this book to a friend?  Why or why not?

Vocabulary development

&       On a separate sheet of paper, include 10 new vocabulary words that you learned in this book.

&       Write the part of speech and the definition of each word

Presentation

&       Your book report should be word processed in 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced, or hand written in ink.

&       You should include a hand-drawn cover (in color) that includes the title of your book, a picture that illustrates a scene from your book, and your name.
