--Welcome to my guide--
Under Construction
Currently Working on the short list - Friday, 8 October 2002
My goal for this tutorial is to introduce AppleScript in an easy way. I myself am struggling through learning AppleScript Studio coming from an AppleScript background. I also have 2 children (ages 9 and 10) for whom I'd like to create an instructional course. I figured as I taught and learned, I'd share the products with you, the general public.
I am currently running Mac OS X 10.2.1 (Jaguar), so will be writing based on that system, but most of the things you learn here will be easily transplanted to other versions of the system and development tools.
The AS Lessons section will be a ground-up tutorial for learning AppleScript, the language.
That should be followed by the AS Studio Lessons which will teach you the basics of using AppleScript Studio. Studio really can't be used without some knowledge of AppleScript, the language. I feel it helps to be able to do stuff with the applications you make.
The Element Short List contains a listing of the AS Studio interface elements. This list has the simplest most pertinent pieces of the Studio puzzle you will need to get started. These are not exhaustive entries as my goal is to keep from overwhelming the reader with information that won't be of immediate use.
The Element Full List will contain a full listing of the interface elements and their properties. This will be more useful as you get into more complicated programs.
The Container Views, Data Sources and Menus lessons are included here due to the fact that they need special treatment to get and deserve their own treatment.
I can always be contacted through the Macscrpt mailing list @ Dartmouth college and the AppleScript Studio mailing list @ Apple. Errors/Additions can be reported to knightscape@charter.net.
