Build a support system.
Read the comics. Laughing is great for the Soul.
Take a walk. Go Barefoot. This is an excellent way to connect with the Earth.
Buy a BIG new box of crayons and some coloring books. Coloring books with characters from your youth may help you rediscover your child within.
Talk about your feelings with someone you trust. Holding in your emotions may cause them to build.
Enjoy nature. Sometimes there is nothing more calming than a walk in the woods or a picnic by open water.
Breathe. Oxygen is great for helping tight muscles and relieving stress.
Build sand castles. Smash them if you wish.
Exercise. It helps burn off excess energy.
Splash in puddles. Rainy days can be fun too. Just remember the hot chocholate and marshmellows once you decide to come in and warm up.
Laugh often. Laugh loud.
Hug your favorite stuffed animal. If you don't have one, get one!
Watch a sunrise or sunset. Remind yourself that each day
brings with it the possibility of new growth. Enjoy the colors.
Go fly a kite.
Have a movie night.
Sing!!!
Allow yourself to cry.
Draw. Everyone is creative in some way.
Don't get caught up in being perfect. Stay caught up in finding you.
Write poetry. Express yourself.
Talk to your inner child. He/she needs nurting too.
Take soothing warm baths scented with your favorite bath oils and soaps. This need not be expensive but can really take the pressures away. While you are doing this light candles and listen to some soft relaxing music.
Meditate. Find your inner peace.
Dance. It can help you find your rythm in life.
Eat your favorite ice cream.
Take plenty of "me" time. If you are exceedingly busy,
still remember to take 5 minutes a day (or if possible) and
be nice to yourself. You are a good person.
Get lost in a craft store. Buy something. Go home and be creative.
When you feel anxiety climbing to the uppermost limit, stop what
you are doing. Look around you. If you do not feel safe go to a
safe place immediately. When you are safe try to concentrate on
breathing out very slowly. Do this several times until you feel
better. Resist the urge to rush. Just concentrate on breathing
out slowly and relaxing.
When you get angry don't be afraid of it. Rip an old newspaper to
shreds. Stomp all over a pillow. Run in place. Throw safe objects
that aren't breakable into other safe spaces, stomp your feet,
yell, scream into your pillow. Do whatever it takes to get the
anger out. Don't hold it in.
