This what Dad wrote about himself. I will leave this here. Bud passed away on August 19, 2002.

Hi there!

I am Cloren "Bud" Meade and I live in Beloit WI, which is on the WI/IL stateline. I was born in Richland Center WI, a few years ago. I retired in 1986 after working in quite a few different jobs. The last place I worked before retirement was The Beloit Corp. There we made the Cadillac of paper making machines.

After serving in the Army Air Corps in WW2 and spending two years in a German Prisoner of War camp, I went to work for The Beloit Daily News. Shortly after that I married my wife(Jean) which was the best thing I've ever done, bar none. She has put up with me for better than 50 years, which says alot for her perserverance. Being an EX-POW, she has put up with alot more than the average wife ever thought of putting up with.

We have raised 4 boys and they are all productive members of society, who we are very proud of. We have 5 grandchildren. 2 girls and 3 boys. The youngest grandchild is 21 and the oldest is 25. The oldest grandson is a whiz on the computer. He has worked with them since he was in third grade and then went to computer school in St. Louis Park, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. All 4 of our sons live within 20 miles of us, so we get to see them quite often.

I went into the Army Air Corp right out of High School and was a ball turret gunner on a B-17F, flying out of England. The pictures on my web page were taken on July 31, 1997. I had never flown on a B-17 since the day we went down over Germany. I was lucky enough to get to fly in it from Madison WI, to Rock County Airport at Janesville WI. I considered that flight as the completion of the mission I started back in 1943.

My hobbies are fishing and following the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers. Also, the Beloit Snappers, who are a farm team of the Brewers, Class A.

I do enjoy getting and exchanging e-mail.
