My good friend and guiding colleague, Dave
Kinney from Rivers Plus Guiding, came up with a excellent
idea to have a charity event on the Stevens Point Flowage,
and I was honored to be a part of it.
The first annual Snoopy Pole Classic was held on Sunday
June 12th. We had contestants of all ages. Fishing hours
were from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Each contestant had to use
a 3 foot Snoopy, Batman, Mickey Mouse, Barbie, etc...
fishing pole. Let me tell you it was very challenging
trying to catch the big ones and it sure was a lot of
fun.
Contestants caught, musky, walleyes, bass,
catfish and bluegills. This was just for braggin rights,
we had trophy's for the 4 top fisher people. A special
award of recognition was presented to Dave Kinney, in
appreciation for organizing and planning the first annual
Snoopy Pole Classic from all his fishing buddy's at PaPa
Joe's bar.
It was an excellent turnout. There
were 73 contestants that fished to benefit the Children's
Miracle Network. Fisher people raised $1460.00
and Ma Joe (Dorothy Jakusz) donated an additional $200.00
for a grand total of $1660.00.
A special thanks to Keith Strong for donating a detail
job also to one of the contestants. Also A special thanks
to Leslie Kinney for making us look more muscular and
with all the excellent food that was prepared. A great
time was had by all.
