ABOUT US
The Valley R/C Flyers Club was formed for the purpose of promoting model aviation and to establish a flying site for modelers in the Valley area.
The club is chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), Charter #2969, which is headquartered in Muncie, Indiana. Membership in the AMA includes liability insurance and competition privileges as well as belonging to a national support group.
Club membership is opened to anyone interested in model aviation and in supporting the purpose of the Club. Due to insurance needs, membership in the AMA is required for all club members who participate in flying activities.
Meetings are held quarterly at the club flying field located in Valley, Alabama. Sunday afternoon is the most popular time for flying activities (weather permitting). Visitors are always welcome. The club offers a flight instruction program at no cost to club members.
Model aviation is a great sport/hobby that is enjoyed by over 150,000 people in the USA and by many thousands more internationally. Contests and fly-ins are very popular throughout the country during the year. Several national contests are held at various locations during the year. The club has sponsored numerous fly-ins/air shows in past years. Participants come from R/C clubs all over the Southeast.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this hobby, the approximate costs for aircraft, equipment, AMA membership, club dues, engine and radio ranges from $300-$500. We recommend a 0.40 size aircraft/engine combination with ailerons and a 4-channel radio. Visit our flying field to talk to any club member before purchasing your R/C items. We can help you save money and assist you in constructing your aircraft.
