AQUARIUM PROJECT

Introduction

The purpose of this Aquarium Project Web Site is to present a hands-on science curriculum that will provide students with the opportunity to enhance their understanding of scientific processes and the scientific method by exploring the dynamics of a fresh water aquarium ecosystem. The fresh water aquarium ecosystem topic was chosen for the focus of the curriculum because water is a vital component to all life and by studying changes in a fresh water aquarium ecosystem students will have the opportunity to make direct connections from what they are learning in the classroom to the real world. For example, by observing the effects of high nitrate and phosphate levels in their aquariums students can better understand how these compounds may effect lakes and rivers.

All of the procedures and support materials needed to conduct the Aquarium Project are included in the Aquarium Project Web Site Table of Contents. Here students and instructors will find valuable resources to aid in the successful completion of the project.
