Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream, He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.  Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.  He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to him, the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.  He noticed that many times along the path there was only one set of footprints.

He recalled that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.  He questioned, "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.  Then, why during the most troublesome times in my life, the times when I needed you most, would you leave me?"

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never, never leave you.  During your times of trials and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Let your conversation be without coveteousness;  and be content with such things as ye have:  for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for
the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35-39
