The Wild Goose Pagoda.

This carving was in natural stone. The colors came from
the stone.

This carving was in jade.

Changing her clothes.

Megan getting her bottle out of the refrigerator. We
certainly didn't teach her that!

She found her swimming diaper and was trying, very
successfully, to put it on.

Yeah! Today is our final day here in Xi'an! Tomorrow morning we get up
early to catch our flight to Guangzhou. It's about a 2.5 hour flight and
we're really hoping that Megan takes to flying the way she rides in cars!!
For this flight anyway. On the flight home.. she may have a little running
room, but on this one it's going to be all sitting.
Today was just a visit to The
Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Named this because one day the Buddha that lived
there wanted to eat meat, even though it was forbidden. He ordered meat be
brought to him and just then a flock of geese flew over and dropped dead
in the air. Errrr.. we think that's what our guide said. She was having
quite a time trying to translate things into English, but did a pretty
good job. There are various temples on the grounds with Buddahs in them.
There were people there praying, so we respected their space. The temples
all had very intricate carvings in various types of media. Some natural
rock, teak wood, jade and bronze. These were wall size murals that told
stories of the Chinese Monk who traveled to India for a cultural exchange.
He brought back tablets filled with lessons from India on Buddhism and
spent 11 years here translating them into Chinese. (Again.. something like
that). The carvings were beautiful.
Megan is doing better today.
She has really become a chatter box, and is running around more. When we
call home, sometimes we can't hear because she is running around
chattering. Ken did make a little break through.. she let him feed her
some food. It's more than she would allow before, so that's progress.
That's about it though. Still not able to give Leslie much help in the
diaper changing, carrying, or wheeling department. She has figured out
where in the refrigerator we put her bottles. She now knows how to go and
get her bottle on her own. She is really head strong and physically
strong. If she doesn't want you to do something, she grabs your hand and
throws it away from her. Her and Carly are going to have so much fun
together!!! It might be that little sister protects big sister! She is
going to be a real hellion.
Amanda is supposed to come to
the hotel tonight to bring some pictures that she had taken while Megan
was at Starfish. It is unbelievable the amount of information that we have
gotten from her. It's an adoptive parents treasure box for sure!
It's gonna be a long day
tomorrow!
WE LOVE YOU CARLY!!!
Ken, Leslie and Megan
