Lance's Paddling Bio
I've been 'paddling' since 1991 when I graduated from the occasional rental canoe to my very own Old Town Discovery 158. After a couple of years and the discovery of solo whitewater canoes I moved into a Dagger Genesis in 1993. I started to watch the weather reports and water levels regularly as I started to venture onto more advanced runs. In 1995 I gave in to the temptation of the kayak and bought a New Wave Mongoose. Now I had a whole new world to explore. But not forgetting my roots, I traded in the Genesis for a Mad River Outrage. Now I just HAD to paddle twice as often as I learned two new boats. I soon started venturing onto our local steep creeks and the big water of the Rockies. In early 1997 I acquired a Wave Sport Descente for creekin' and gave into the rodeo boat craze and started test driving my friends' boats and ended up with one of their Dagger RPMs. Now I could spend as much time vertical and upside down as I did right side up. What a blast! I've since worn out the RPM and a Wave Sport Kinetic. Now I test drive every new boat design I can sneak in when my friends take a break from them (if they ever do!). Too many new designs to choose from. (But I'm not complaining - just wish I could make up my mind of what to get next)
In December 1998 I got a Pyranha Attak and started working on the cartwheels (they were possible everywhere!) I also switched to a Pyranha Micro 240 for creekin'. Fast eddys and awesome boofs! In May 99 I had to get the Pyrahna Inazone 230. This boat has taken me to new places and moves. It is one sweet boat! Can you tell I like Pyranha? J
Fall 2000, working on my second year of 100+ paddling days and got a Prozone 230 to shred the holes and waves. Tight on the feet, but all the moves it makes possible are worth it.
Spring 2001 traded in the Attak for a Sub7 2-ball. Short, slicey and FUN! Another quality design from Pyranha! Also converted my Prozone to a C-1 just for the fun of it. Didn't quite reach 90 paddling days, due to the drought for most of the year.
Fall 2002 got a S-6 200 for big time play and converted the Sub 7 to C-1. Also contemplating getting into a small canoe again….
