I am so excited that you may be relocating to the area. Originally from Johnson City, I joined the Navy and was stationed in Japan. Needless to say I saw a lot of the world and parts of the USA. However, there is no place like the mountains of upper East Tennessee.
There are four mild seasons. The Great Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge are just a 45 minute drive away. East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine and the Veterans Administration are also located in Johnson City.
The University of Tennessee is located in Knoxville about 1 1/2 hours from the Tri-Cities and the excitement of Nascar racing is in Bristol, TN. The hottest ticket on the circuit.
The surrounding cities and counties have numerous festivals including Jonesborough Days (Jonesborough is the oldest town in Tennessee) where story telling is nationally known. Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall is spectacular! We have numerous lakes, golf courses, shopping, great restaurants, concerts and more!
