I enjoy working with organic shapes and color gradations. When Robert Kaufman Co. put out a fabric by Debra Lunn & Michael Mrowka called Pointillist Palette it provided beautiful color gradations and I knew I'd find a good use for it.
When I saw a photograph by Toshinobu Takeuchi in Outside Magazine of cherry blossom petals and lily pads on water, something clicked and I knew I could use those shapes with the pointillist fabric. I liked the flow in the photograph and used it as the inspiration for my design.
This is an always evolving work. The edges of the lily pads are unfinished so they will continue to slowly fray creating a softer edge.
