This piece combines my hand dyed or painted fabric, fabric manipulation techniques, and the old crazy quilt design. I was asked to make a crazy quilt and initially disliked the process. A year later when faced with scraps from my own dyed fabrics I decided to try the crazy quilt design again. This time I added some dimension by folding and scrunching the fabric before sewing it together.
I really enjoyed the freedom of placement the crazy quilt method allows. The ability to use small pieces of fabric allowed me to use scraps left from my favorite fabrics. When I completed this piece it felt like the top of a mountain so I named it Summit.
