Boy Scout Troop 94 honored Geoffrey Dahling, 18, at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Sunday, May 19, 2002, at 2:00pm at the First Lutheran Education Building in Lake City. Dahling is the son of Loren and Mary Jo Dahling of Rochester and Denise and Stanley Bargsten of Lake City.
Only two percent of Scouts attain the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America. An Eagle Scout must have completed at least 21 merit badges and organized a service project that benefits his church, community, or school. Dahling led a crew that restored the so-called German Methodist Cemetery on the Charlie and Doris Ryan farm in Mount Pleasant Township on behalf of the Wabasha County Historical Society.
Dahling joined Cub Scout Pack 94 at age seven and later earned their highest award, the Arrow of Light. A member of Troop 94 since 1995, he regularly attended Summer Camp at Tomahawk Scout Reservation in Wisconsin and participated in High Adventure trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. Pack and Troop 94 are sponsored by First Lutheran Church in Lake City.
Dahling, a senior at Lincoln High School, has been active in choir, Madrigal Singers, Key Club, Spanish Club, football, wrestling, and baseball. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Belvidere, he accompanied their youth group on a mission to teach Vacation Bible School in Jamaica. He is active in the Association of Christian Teens and has volunteered as a counselor at Camp Omega in Minnesota and Camp Matz in Wisconsin. Dahling is employed by Subway in Lake City and will be attending Minnesota State University, Mankato.
