Band Indoor Concert

Join your fellow alumni in Madison on the evening of Saturday, April
26, for the 2003 edition of the UW Marching Band Indoor Concert. It
doesn't seem possible, but the band fills the Kohl Center three straight
nights for this event. More than 20 of us went last year and we were
unanimous, that it was a fun and entertaining way to spend an evening.
Mike Leckrone and the UW Band know how to put on a show!
Tickets
will need to be ordered by January 20, the price is $15 per ticket.
Reserve your tickets by sending an email to Dave Dosch (dldosch@charter.net)
or by phone (252-1806). We will collect money after the tickets arrive.

Yes, it's that time of year again.
Dust off those stadium blankets, pull out the penants, and dump the
peanuts from your fall jackets and get ready to rumble!
Here are the
games that we have 'potential' to get tickets for:
09/06 Akron
09/13 UNLV
09/20 North Carolina
10/11 Ohio State (limited availability)
11/8 @Minnesota
11/15 Michigan State
11/22 Iowa
All tickets
will be in the South End Zone with full view of the entire field.
However, there may be a slight problem with depth-perception... We
have to order tickets in groups of 25 or more. Time is short (as usual)
for getting our order in place.
The schedule
is as follows:
03/01 indicate games club is interested in
03/18 club will receive order form from athletic dept
04/15 order back to athletic dept
05/2003 final ticket numbers confirmed by athletic dept and payment
requested
So get your
game preferences to Randy
Horn ASAP. And get your ticket orders finalized prior to April
15.

Band is Coming to Rochester!

The University
of Wisconsin Marching Band came to Rochester for the very first time!!
Under the direction
of Mike Leckrone, the band performed old favorites as well as selections
from their upcoming spring indoor concert. Special thanks to Lynn
Dosch for organizing the event, and to John Boray for his fund raising
efforts. Also thanks to HyVee for donating food, and to everyone who
helped with ticket sales or helped with lunch for the band.

Game Viewing Party

McMurphy's Sports Bar, Rochester, MN
Report from Randy Horn:
Greetings Badger Fans!!!
I hope those of you who weren't able to attend the game in person
or the party at McMurphy's were watching the game at home. Was that
GREAT or what?!? Nothing like being behind just a tad at the half
and then come out smoking with 11 unanswered points right out of the
chute to start the second half!!
Needless to say, the party
at McMurphy's was a blast. Plenty of popcorn, peanuts, beer and sandwiches
to go around. There were cheers echoing off the walls as those 3-pointers
went in. And did you know that it's not NEARLY as smokey in there
on a Sat during the day? The waitresses were right there to refill
popcorn and refresh the drinks. Centered right in front of the perfect
TV, I felt like the party was just for me. The bartender catered to
the whims of the club so the game could easily be heard. In fact,
dare I say that I was the life of the party? I believe I even have
a line on a couple of new members (last name of Sanderfoot) so perhaps
our club will even grow from this event!
Those of you who were there,
you know the things that we need to keep just between us. Those of
you who were missing, well, when you come to the next one you'll be
in the know and part of the fun too! See you all at the next party
AND the next meeting!
GO BADGERS!!!
P.S. If the police call
any of you, I never attended the game...I was in Vegas for the day.....
KidsFest

Successful Kidsfest Fund Raiser!
Every
year the UW Alumni Club helps raise funds for the Ronald McDonald
House by sponsoring a booth at their Kidsfest fund raiser. Our traditional
booth is snocones and all proceeds go to the charity.
Preschool
and early grade children are invited to attend and are given a wide
assortment of activities and "foods" to indulge in.
Again
this year, the snocones were a success, even in the dead of winter.
Over 500 snocones were sold which resulted in more than a $625 donation
to the charity.
Thanks to
Terry and Shelly Schardt and all the volunteers for another successful
effort.

UW Alumni again this year are volunteering to help stock food shelves
for Christmas Anonymous on December 9th and 10th. Food packing - 12/9
and 12/10 at Christ United Methodist Church - 6:30 to 9 PM. approx
18 signed up. Thanks for volunteering. Christmas Anonymous Gift Escorts

Game Viewing Party

McMurphy's Sports Bar, Rochester, MN
Put on your red and white and come to McMurphy's Sports Bar on Saturday,
November 23 to watch the Badgers on Big Screen. Join the fun with
other local alumni and fans and cheer the Badgers on to victory when
they meet the Minnesota Gophers in Madison. A bowl game may hang in
the balance. There will be free peanuts and popcorn. Watch the game
in a friendly and fun Badger atmosphere. Check the TV listings for
game time. See you all there!

10-12 people were at McMurphy's for the Michigan State game. Made
approx $40 on the raffle items. The Badgers won decisively !!!!

- Two outstanding Speakers: John Finkler - UW Athletic Department,
and Jeff Sauer - Coach of Men's Hockey
- Dinner at the Comfort Inn, choice of entrees
- UW-Madison scholarships awarded to selected Rochester area high
school seniors
- Update on WAA by a WAA staff member
- Badger memorabilia raffled for scholarship fund
