The McLean KYGenWeb site is part of a national internet project called
USGenWeb. The idea of the project is to find a
volunteer to do a web site oriented to amateur genealogy research for every
county in the US. The county sites are all
linked into a state site and the the state sites are linked to the national
site USGenWeb . The project has also
grown to include web sites for countries around the world.
The purpose of the county sites is to allow those doing their own family
history research to use the internet to contact
each other, share research and share resources. The volunteers don't
do the research for you, but provide the web
site as a resource for your family history research.
The GenConnect Query Page allows posting and responses to a genealogy
inquiry. The database is searchable by surname and the person who posted
the message can be easily emailed. The Surname pages allow you to list
the surnames you are researching
and allow easy email contact between new found "cousins" or others researching
the same family lines. The lookups page has listed McLean genealogy references
and people who
own them. These folks can be contacted by email and
are kind enough to check these reference works for information on ancestors
you are researching.
Hopefully, some
of the other information such as the county
lines and census film information will be of help. I also try to include
some interesting photos and history on the
page as well, I hope this will be especially helpful to researchers who
do not live in the area.
