I want to know about the history of the MILLAY family particularly in western Daviess County and also the history of the HOLLAND family in Daviess, Hancock, and Mclean counties.

DOWNS : I am looking for information on the Downs family in Nelson county in the early 1800's. A Wm and Nancy Downs moved to Davis/Ohio counties. In 1792 William was scalped by Indians. Nancy moved her family; where another family helped to raise several of her children: two of which were a William Jr and a Rebecca. Rebecca married Daniel KING son of Cornelius. her gaurdian is listed Evan and Sarah WILLIAMS, but a biography of William Jr states he was raised by Evan WILSON. Wm Jr and Rebecca had aleast one brother named Thomas and possibly a brother named James. All of the brothers were very big in the Missionary Baptist church and helped set many, many churches in central Ky and Southern IN Question: Were the Downs and the Williams/ Wilson's related and how? Was the Nancy's maiden name or was Sarah a sister? Is any one else working on this line of Downs. I know that Thomas was born in PA in 1773 and William in Ky 1783. Would really like to hear from any Downs decendant.

Ada NEAL born 3 Apr 1872 in ? died 3 apr 1962 in Hopkinville, Christian, Kentucky in a mental institution, her name could also show up as Ada HARRIS. And Thomas J HARRIS, all I have on him is the birth date 15 Dec 1871 and Death date 17 Aug 1955. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm trying to track down some information on my mother's lineage. She is Ioma Josephine EVANS, daughter of Dyson Byron Evans of McLean County, Livermore, Kentucky (B: 1906, M: Dec 23, 1925, D: Oct 15, 1934) and Oda Palestine NESMITH of Daviess County, Owensboro, Kentucky (B: May 27, 1910; D: Aug 29, 1983). I believe Oda Palestine Nesmith's father was Robert Vincent Nesmith and her mother was Elizabeth BAILEY. Other children of Robert and Elizabeth Nesmith include: Madeline Nesmith married Zachary WELLS (D: April 1951) married Herbert R. EADES Fallie Christine Nesmith married Parker GLOVER Hallie Pauline Nesmith married Authur Lee BUNCH Golda Nesmith Robert Nesmith Odell Nesmith Wesley Nesmith Daniel Nesmith Dyson Byron Evans' father was Herman Evans (B: 1884) who married Ida (B: 1890). Other children of Herman and Ida Evans include: William Henry Evans (B: 1910) Lee Robert Evans (B: 1914) married to Cora Jane J. D. Evans (B: 1916) This is all the information I've been able to find, so far, regarding my maternal ancestors. There is a Plesant E. SHACKLEY on the McLean county 1870 census. I believe the surname is actually SHOCKLEY. Or the name was changed to SHOCKLEY at a later date.
