The Scoop was introduced in the late 1930's and lasted until the late 1940's or possibly early 50's. They were first found with glass eyes and then transitioned at some point to the pressed and painted eye style. The earlier ones also came in a two piece cardboard box, while the later ones are found in a two piece plastic topped box. They came in two sizes and five standard colors. The original lure was 3 5/8" in length and then around 1941 the smaller 3" size was introduced. This smaller version only had two treble hooks.

This is a Pflueger Scoop prototype (picture 1) (picture 2) (picture 3) with the factory sample tag dated in 1939. This sample was used for the design of the new and smaller 3" size lure, which was later introduced in 1941. I suspect that they were experimenting with the location of the side hook hanger, since there are two sets of holes. The paint appears to be a unique variation on Pflueger's silver sparks color.
