Who is this Catch-all Paul guy?

My name is Paul Mortenson and I was Born and raised in Oshkosh, WI. My home was about three blocks from Lake Winnebago, which is where I spent just about every day all summer long...fishing for Northern Pike, Walleyes, Bass, Catfish, and Panfish  I have always loved fishing and began hording tackle at a very young age.  Even when I was little I had to have the biggest tacklebox filled with every lure my paper route money could possibly buy.  I never really thought of seriously collecting tackle until a buddy at work peaked my interest by showing me some of his lures. (Thanks Tom!!!)  Then I went to my first NFLCC show and it was all over after that!

My first interest was reels.  I went about it in the shotgun approach, simply buying everything in sight that looked neat!  Eventually, my credit card started to scream at me...so I had to narrow my collecting scope.  I then decided to collect only mid to lower-end Pfluegers.  Well, as much as I loved all the other models and still do, I finally decided to only stick to Pflueger Supremes and Summit lines.  Eventually, I reached that plateau to where it is hard to find those last few models...so I looked for something else.  I went with Pflueger high-end fly reels (Golden West, Hawkeye, and Delite).  This is still what I am concentrating on and probably will be for some time to come!

I also loved lures, but there are just soooo many that I couldn't decide what I wanted to collect.  I loved most Heddon, CCBCo, Pflueger, South Bend, and oodles of others...but I finally decided on one that I could really settle on.  I decided on the Catch-all lure.  It was unique, from Wisconsin, somewhat rare, not many other collectors to compete with, and still affordable.  Best of all, is that this little lure truly excited me!

Some of the other lures I collect are:

The Pflueger glass-eyed Scoop - I love this lure!  It lookes similar to the CCBCo Injured Minnow, but has triple bladed props.  It seems to be a little easier on the pocketbook than the Creek Chub variety.  It is a unique and nicely made lure and that is why I appreciate this one so much.  It came in 5 known colors and two sizes. (3" & 3 5/8")

The Creek Chub Jointed Husky Pikie (glass-eyed, 3000 series)  - What can I say?  It's just a classic lure that anyone can appreciate!

The Pflueger Poprite - I can't really explain why I like this little cheap lure so much.  It's not that old, no glass eyes, it's kind of bland, and not very unique...but I love it none the less!  It is a real easy one to collect with a lot of them surfacing and they are so darned inexpensive...I hope to be able to complete this collection in a jiffy!  There are two sizes (3" & 4") and about 10 colors.

Please take an occasional look back to my site, as I will be updating it all the time.  Thanks for taking an interest in 'ol "Catch-all Paul" and reading about me.  Well, happy collecting!!!  :-)
