I'm pretty sure it's a law that all personal web pages must have a Links page, so
here is mine. I waste way too much time at this sites.
Diet Related Sites:
alt.support.diet (newsgroup):
Ok, I know
that a newsgroup isn't really a site, per se. Still, I am a Usenet junkie from way back, and I find this
one to be pretty useful. There are several very knowledgeable people who hang out here, and you can
learn a lot, and get a lot of support or advice as needed. I post there as Annie Benson Lennaman.
Three Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community:
Perhaps my favorite on line weight loss resource. When I first started my diet, I spent hours just
reading the old articles that people had posted. It's a very good way to get educated about weight
loss. The board is active, the mods are knowledgeable and friendly, and it's just a terrific
resource in general. I post there under the name "Tealeaf".
Fitday:
I link this site several times in my pages, but I swear, I don't work for them.
I have found this to be a very useful tool in my weight loss struggle. Here you can
track your daily food intake, your exercise, your weight changes (it draws graphs!), keep a journal, and other
stuff. The online version is free, the PC version costs about 30$ and is easier to use and has more
features (I mainly use the PC version). Plus, I've heard that the metabolic calculations of the PC version are more accurate
than the online ones. That is to say, the online version will tend to overestimate the amount of
calories you are really burning off in a day. Even if that is true, though, this is a great little
tool. Note, there are other dietary programs out there, and some might be better than Fitday.
I'm just listing what I use.
The President's Challenge:
This is an exercise logging site, where you get points for recording various activities
and can earn awards if you meet certain goals. You can compare how you are doing against other
people sorted by their age or locations, or members of your group, should you happen to belong to one.
I am the administrator for the 3 Fat Chicks Presidential Challenge group. And no, if you join, you
won't get calls from George hitting you up for donations, or get any weird politically slanted mail (unless you
already do, of course.)
Free Weightloss Tips, Delivered to Your Inbox!: (New)
A free weekly newsletter. If you don't want to sign up, you can still read
what they put out in the archives section (newer articles are added at the bottom). I don't know
that I agree with everyone on the site (the archive starts out with a 3-part essay on the importance of water, which
I feel is overrated by the diet community as a whole), but there does some to be alot of good information here that
might help the overwhelmed dieter. Also, my site is rather glowing mentioned in the article
Remember the Alamo.
Dotti's Weight Loss Zone:
Another online weight loss community. This one is also active,
and the one time I tried their chat it was pretty busy. The organization is a bit iffy for me
though, there are simply so many sub boards that it is hard to remember where you posted, or find the one you
are looking for. Still, it is a nice place and worth checking out. I post there as
Tealeaf Hero.
Stumptuous.com Women's Weight Training:
Pretty much required reading if you are planning on doing any weight training
as part of your diet regime. Pretty darned useful and interesting even if you aren't.
Either way, it's fun and informative to read.
Getting2Goal:
Yet another weight loss community. This one is a bit less active than
the others listed, but still worth a visit. I post there as Tealeaf Hero.
Hussman Fitness:
A pretty meaty site. It is full of useful information and heavy on the
science. If you are looking to start your education about what it takes to get fit, this is a great
place to visit.
Non Diet Related Sites:
Cause I have other ways to waste my time online
besides obsessing about my weight.
Good Eats Fan Page:
For fans of the Food TV show "Good Eats" hosted by Alton Brown.
Actually they tend to talk about many different topics. One of the more civil online communities
I've visited. For me, a fun place to hang out. I post there as Tealeaf.
Drew Curtis' FARK.com:
Basically a list of odd or interesting news stories, photoshop contests, boobie and
weenie links, and such, with commentary from the Farking public. This site is more addictive
than I am probably making it sound. I've accidently lost hours and hours to this site.
I post there under the name Tealeaf.
City of Heroes Official Forums:
I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned somewhere in this website that I'm something
of a nerd. Well, more proof of that. I play the MMORPG (Massively Multi Online Role
Playing Game) City of Heroes. Basically it a game where you roleplay a superhero, and fight crime
along side several other people who are doing the same thing. I used to be quite active in the
official forums, till I started spending less time in front of the computer and more time doing stuff like
walking for exercise. Still, this game and this site are part of my time wasting activities.
I post there under the name Tealeaf.
G4 Forum - X-Play:
The forums for the show on G4, X-Play. X-play is basically a
video game review show. Or perhaps it's a comedy show. I love to watch it because
it is so funny, and I have a little thing for one of the hosts, Adam Sessler. I don't visit the
forums very often, though. They are mainly populated by overly emotional teen aged boys, which can
lead to amusing results from time to time. I post there as Tea_Annie.
