Notice of Race

2008 Fleet 2 High Point Series

 

Name.  The name of this racing series shall be called the 2008 Lido 14 Fleet 2 High Point Series.

 

Organizing Authority.  Scoring for this race series will be administered by a representative(s) of the Lido 14, Fleet 2 class association.  The Lido 14 Class 2 Fleet Captain shall be the Primary Race Officer.

 

Eligibility.  This racing series is open to all current and up to date members of the Lido 14 Fleet 2.  No scores will be allowed skippers that have not joined the Fleet. 

 

Races.  The following races shall constitute the series:

 

 

Three races shall constitute a series, except that the number of throw outs, as discussed below, shall be reduced by one for every two races not held or participated in.

 

Rules.  Unless otherwise prescribed by the hosting authority, this racing series shall be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. (2005-2008), the “RRS”. Alterations to the RRS may be made in the Sailing Instructions of the club hosting an event. 

 

Scoring.   Scoring will be divided into those sailing in the A Fleet and those sailing in the B Fleet.  In the event a B Fleet skipper joins the A Fleet, all points shall carry forward.  For races where the fleet races as one, A Fleet members will be scored only against other A Fleet members and the same shall apply to the B Fleet.  The scoring for each regatta or race will be based on the number of boats a skipper beats plus one, ie. if one sails in a five boat fleet and finishes second, that skipper receives 4 points.

 

In the event a qualified skipper volunteers for race committee their score for the event shall be as follows:

 

Appendix A to the RRS shall apply except that two (2) ”throw outs” shall be allowed.  In the event of a tie which is not resolved by the provisions of Appendix A, the organizing authority may declare a draw.

 

Entrants.  To the extent possible the intent is to reward the skipper of record.  However, understanding the nature of the fleet, all accommodations, within reason, shall be made to accommodate alternate skippers.  Requests to name and qualify and alternate skipper must be made in writing to the Lido 14 Fleet 2 Captain prior to the participation of an alternative skipper.  Any determination to this effect shall be made by Lido 14 Class 2 Captain.

 

No entry fee is required nor is any registration.  All you have to do is be a member of the Lido 14 Fleet 2 and participate!

 

Awards.  Awards will be given to the skippers that wins the most points after throwouts.  Separate awards will be given to those who race in the “A” Fleet and “B” Fleet, meaning that there will be an award for the top A Fleet skipper and the top B Fleet skipper.  In the event, a skipper moves from the B Fleet to the A Fleet, or vice versa, all points won will be honored but will be considered in the standing for the fleet the skipper ends the season in.  The winners will be announced on the Fleet 2 website, by Fleet 2 enews, after the final events or at an event typically held in the fall at SCCYC, such as the Fleet 2 clinic/BBQ.
