Tempas Reunions

There have been two family reunions in recent history. One in 1994 and the other in 2003. Here are some details on these, and memorabilia that you may want to see. Included is information on the papers found in the attic during the neighborhood tour. Look through the information and ready yourself for the 2007 reunion in California.

The Attic Papers

The homeowner of the attic talks about the materials from the attic.
During the tour of Ardelle an old box of papers was found in one of the attics (I don't have the name or address of the house, if anyone has that information let me know and I will mention it here). I can still remember the excitement of the tour group as this material was passed from one to another as we all yearned for a look into the past of family. It is quite likely that these old school papers hadn't seen the light of day for more than half a century.

This box of precious Tempas history was taken back to Michigan with me, and spent too much time waiting patiently for distribution. Aunt Mary sent a gracious note to me inquiring about the whereabouts of this material, and I was inspired to complete the project I had imagined in 2003. The papers in the old box are now scanned and available on CD for those who would like a small peak into the early lives of our family tree. Believe it or not, most of it dates from the 1930s, and there are wedding invitations from 1889.

Scanning the documents was a bit of the surreal. Here I was using technologies that hadn't even been dreamed of during that period to scan and store pages that the authors had scarcely imagined would be subject to such scrutiny decades hence. The contents of the box consists almost entirely of school papers. Only three people are represented: Mary, Burt, and Ned. For whatever reason, Walter, Bob, and Betty didn't get their homework in the box. Here are some examples of the scanned materials:

What? You want to see more than just three pages? Well, of course! You can get all the documents that I scanned on CD if you let me know. I would appreciate $5.00 to help defray the costs of shipping. Included will be all the pictures I took at the reunion as well. Use our address of 2410 Dilloway Drive, Midland, MI 48640. Now all we have to do is wait patiently for the DVD of all the video taken on those days.

1994 Reunion Tape/DVD

1994, can we even remember back that far? I have a video from that reunion. OK, I hadn't meant for it to the the definitive video of the reunion, but it may be the only one around (taping wasn't as common in those days). Want a copy of that? You can get the 1994 Tempas Reunion Video on VHS tape or DVD by sending $10.00 to me (2410 Dilloway Drive, Midland, MI 48640). Here are some samples stills from the video:
