Guitars
I think I would still be intrigued by guitars even if I didn't play guitar, I guess it is
because they are such beautiful wooden creations. I still have most of the guitars I owned in my life
and love to talk about them so...
Alvarez 12 String 5054 - 1981
This was my first real guitar and anybody who plays guitar nows starting out on a 12 string is a bad idea.
But I had to have it and broke a million strings learning to tune it. I bought this Gold Chorus" 12-String NEW
when I was 15, with money I had earned cleaning salmon at a fish cleaning station. It came from a music store
in Ludington Michigan and still have it.
Alvarez Classical 5006 - 1976
In 1981 or 1982 my high school art teacher told me about a used guitar he thought was really a nice instrument and one that might be easier to learn on
I bought the used Alvarez "Ballada" Classical guitar in Traverse City Michigan and still have it.
Alvarez 6 String PD85SCAV - 2006
Bought this guitar new from Rainbow Music in Grand Rapids hoping to do some gigging with it. Solid Spruce Top Solid Rosewood back and laminated rosewood sides.
Has electronics and built in tuner.
Harmony Rocket Hollow Body Electric Guitar - 1968
My first electric guitar I bought this used guitar for $35.00 in 1985 from a music store in Big Rapids Michigan. The guy selling it to
me was kind of makin fun of it when he sold it to me, but I really liked and it was traded amongst my friends and I for a few years
before it disappeared. I looked on EBAY to see what it would cost to pick one up now and it's more like $350.00. They even came out with a reissue this year because of the instruments popularity
Ovation Tornado Hollow Body Electric Guitar - 1969?
I bought this used guitar in 1986 from a music store in Big Rapids Michigan. I can't remember what I paid for it or what year it was (I think it was a 1969)
but it was a really beautiful guitar and
in excellent condition. This guitar was part of the Ovation storm series made for a short time.
I think the models were Tornado, Hurricane and Thunderhead?
It had a super thin neck I really wish I still had that guitar but it was the 80'and fast tremelo
equipted metal guitars where the happenin' thing and hence came the J.B. Player.
J.B. Player Electric Guitar - 1968
I bought this guitar in 1987 from a music store in Big Rapids Michigan. I can't remember what I paid for it.
This was a very nice guitar also, with super fast action and a tremelo bar with locking nut and fine tuners on
the bridge. This awesome guitar soon pointed out my limitaions though and I realized a better guitar doesn't make
a better player unfortunately so
I enjoyed this guitar for a few years and then I played a Les Paul.
Gibson Les Paul Artisan - 1977
I traded my J.B. Player and a Peavey Encore amp to a music store in Grand Rapids Michigan for this Les Paul. This guitar is rare. I beleive it's the heaviest les paul ever made.
This 3 pick up guitar has special inlay including flowers on the frettboard that usually appeared on Gibson banjos. This guitar sounds great no matter what I plug it in to.

Original Music
I have lots of other interests and absolutely no time to pursue them. The little bit of free time
I've had has been dedicated to making lures and developing Manistee Bait Company. After years of not
playing guitar I've got the itch to play and make up my own songs again. I'm more than a little rusty
and still can't find the time to practice. When I had stopped playing I was trying to record my own stuff
with rudimentary techniques and poor equipment, basically a couple of boom boxes and a michrophone. Lately
I've acquired a digital 4-track recorder and have learned how to get homemade recording onto the computer
(somethings I had been wanting to do for a long time). Following are a couple of snippets they are very rough
and of course I haven't had the time to polish them up but they get the idea across. They may take a long time
to download if you have a phone modem connection.
