Friends

A friend to me is one of the ways in which I get to know myself, as well as get to know my friend. The willingness to trust and to accept another as an imperfect fellow-traveler in life is the hallmark of a friend. I try to be that kind of friend. Between friends, age, gender, ethnicity, background, experience, and status all become interesting descriptions of a person, but pale in comparison with the actual nature of a friend. One can have a good friend for an hour or for a lifetime. One can have a friend of any age or gender. What makes a friend is the quality of the relationship, which transcends time and space. My memories are populated with many special friends.
