Some Special Techniques
(These are non-traditional methods - many psychotherapists disagree with the use of these methods.)

Some of the specific techniques which I have found helpful as adjuncts to psychotherapy in certain limited situations might include:

  • Focusing
  • Guided imagery
  • Suggestion
  • Dream analysis
  • Sessions by the light of a candle, or in darkness
  • Assigned readings
  • Assigned light exercise
  • Color selection interpretation
  • Ceremony and symbolic change
  • Meditation
  • Reiki- usually by referral to another practitioner

None of the above are a substitute for psychotherapy; they each serve as a facilitating modality to provide a relaxation for conversation.
