RESULTS
FROM OUR FISHING COMMITTEE (Jeff Alexander & Mike McCrackin)
Thursday Night Derby
9/17/09
Well, fishing did not get any better this
week for most of the 11 boats that fished.
Only 7 keeper bass were weighed in and the Team of Alexander &
Allison had 3 of them for the win.
They had a total weight of 10.26 lbs…
Their Big Bass weighed 4.78 lbs.
In 2nd Place
was D. Knaust with 2 fish that weighed 5.49 lbs… In 3rd Place was Ragsdale & Meyers
with 1 fish that weighed 2.18 lbs… For
those of you out there who think you cannot compete with some of these
anglers, think again. The last few
weeks have been some tough fishing. If
you can catch one or two fish you are in the money. This Thursday is the last Thursday night
derby of the year. Come on out, you
never know. We will keep you posted on
the upcoming Fall/Winter schedule for tournaments this year. The dates for the tournaments still need to
be approved by the C.A.
and when they are we will pass them on.

Saturday Tournament

Finally fishing is starting
to improve for some of the anglers. 7 boats came out to fish the
tournament. The Team of McCrackin & McCrackin won 1st Place with a 5 fish limit that
weighed a nice 17.09 lbs… They also won the Big Bass of the tourney
with a bass that weighed 5.29 lbs… (Nice fish Dale) Rounding out the
day was the Team of Alexander & Allison with 4 fish that weighed 12.65
lbs… Of the 7 boats that weighed fish, there were a total of 20 fish
brought to the scales. Hopefully, we are getting back to normal.
We will see next week. FISH ON
Thursday Night Derby 9/10/09
11 boats fished, and 11 keeper
bass were weighed in. The Team of McGarry
& McGarry took the top spot with 3 fish that
weighed 8.71 lbs… In 2nd Place
was the Team of Nagle & Lineberry with 3 fish
that weighed an even 8 lbs… In 3rd Place
was the Team of Bell & our President of the club J.
Dangoia with 2 fish that weighed 6.30 lbs… Big Bass Honors went to S.
Hopping at 3.60 lbs… Let’s hope the morning bite on our Saturday
Tournament will be better.
Thursday Night Derby 9/3/09
The bite continued to be tuff on
the 12 boats that fished the derby. Only 14 keeper bass were weighed
in. Team Knaust found 2 of them for the win with a total weight of 8.22
lbs… In 2nd Place
was the Team of Mulvaney & Ewing with a nice
bass that weighed 5.87 lbs… That was also the big bass of the
tournament. In 3rd Place
was the Team of Ragsdale & Will with 2 fish that weighed 5.67 lbs…
I have a feeling next week will be more of the same. TUFF
Thursday Night Derby 8/27/09
Where did all the big bass
go? That is the question the 14 boats that fished the derby were
wondering. For the second week in a row, there has not been a bass that
has weighed over 4 pounds. The big ones have out smarted us all.
The Team of Strand & Harris managed to find 5 keepers for the win that
weighed 12.50 lbs… The Team of Alexander & Allison also found a
limit of 5 fish for 2nd Place
that weighed 11.13 lbs… In 3rd Place
was Hopping & Hopping with 3 fish that weighed in at 7.55 lbs… The
Big Bass of the night was caught by D. Knaust that weighed 3.69 lbs…
With the cooler temperatures fishing is about to get good, real good.
We are going to try and hold Sunday morning tournaments starting in
October. Providing there is some interest and we can get the C.A.’s approval. Stay tuned.
Thursday Night Derby 8/20/09
It turned out to be another tuff
night on most of the 13 boats that fished the derby. There were no
limits weighed in but the Team of Hopping & Hopping did find 4 for the
win. There total weight was 10.68 lbs… They also had the big bass
of the night which went an even 4.00 lbs… In 2nd Place
was C. Jones & Barnes with 3 fish that weighed 8.35 lbs… Finishing
off the night was the Team of Strand & Harris with 2 fish that weighed
4.71 lbs… With the fishing conditions as they are anyone has a chance
to win. If you haven’t been out to one of our derbies lately, it would
be a great time to get out. Not to mention all the food that is
prepared after weigh in. Hopefully we will be adding a few more
tournaments in October and if there is enough interest maybe some in
November. We will keep you posted. FISH ON.
Saturday Tournament
8/15/09
It was back to the big lake for
the 8 boats that fished the night tournament from 6:00 p.m. till
midnight. Nagle carried over his Thursday night win with a 5 fish limit
that weighed a huge 18.45 lbs. That’s one of the best weights of the
year. In 2nd Place
was the Team of Knaust & Bassler with a 5 fish
limit that weighed 15.34 lbs. Finishing of the night with the Big Bass
was McGarry & Cavanaugh that weighed 5.89
lbs.
Thursday Night Derby 8/13/09
Fishing on the small lake (Lake Louise) is always fun. If you put 11 boats
on it with a buddy it really gets interesting. All bass were accepted
at weigh in and the tournament anglers took full advantage of the
situation. Team Nagle & Luscious took the top spot with a total of
14 bass for a total weight of 17.04 lbs. Their big bass weighed in at a
heavy 6.07 lbs. In 2nd Place
was the Team of Knaust & Bassler with 10 bass
that weighed 12.14 lbs… 3rd
Place went to Hopping & Hopping with 12 bass
that weighed 12.10 lbs. Of the 11 teams that fished the derby, 96 bass
were weighed in. That’s a lot of fish.
Thursday Night Derby Results 8/6/09
We had another good turnout
of 13 boats fishing the derby but the bass bite continued to stay tuff on
most of the anglers. The Team of Strand & Harris had no problem finding
5 nice bass that weighed 14.09 lbs. to take the top spot. In 2nd Place was the Team of
Dickherber & Jones with 3 fish that weighed 9.91 lbs… Finishing off
the night in a close 3rd Place
was McGarry & Lombardo with 3 fish that weighed
9.87 lbs… They had the Big Bass that went 5.40 lbs… Next weeks
derby on the 13th of August will be on the small lake. Take off will
be at 5:30 p.m. and we will fish until 8:30 p.m...
The positions being paid out will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
Big Bass and most fish. All bass caught during the derby can be kept,
of course for release at weigh in. We are allowed to run the big motors
on the small lake but at idle speed only. NO exceptions. The
other tournament coming up is the night tournament back on the big lake on
the 15th. That tournament will take off at 6:00 p.m. at
Windjammer and weigh in will be at midnight. Regular rules and
restrictions will be applied. Hope to see everyone then.
Thursday Night Derby
7/30/09
We had our best turnout of
the year this week with 17 boats coming out to fish the Thursday night
derby. Most of the anglers thought Thursday night was going to be a
good night for some big fish. We had some rain on Tuesday and it was
cloudy all day Thursday so all of that made it tuff this week. Of the
17 boats that fished the derby their were only 22
keeper bass weighed in. The Team of Nagle & Lowery had 4 of them
for 1st Place
with a total weight of 10.50 lbs... In 2nd Place
was Dickherber & Jones with 3 fish weighing in at 10.21 lbs. They also
had the Big Bass that weighed 4.95 lbs… Finishing in 3rd Place
was the Team of McCrackin & McCrackin with 3 fish that weighed 6.48
lbs… After the weigh-in and a few hot dogs, the reports of several BIG
fish started coming in. Unfortunately those fish broke off in a dock or
just came unbuttoned at the boat. Experiences/stories like that keep us
anglers coming back for more. Hope to see everyone next week.
Thursday Night Derby 7/23/09
To the regular readers of this
board, I must apologize for not getting the results out to you the last month
or so. We should be good from here on out. The best way I can
interpret the last month or so, is that it took a limit of 5 fish each week
to win and at least 13+ pounds. One notable mention among the last
month was that on July 16th, Matt Nagel had a Big Bass at weigh in
that weighed just over 7 pounds. It was a “pig” as they say and was
released back into the lake to be caught again. Now for the latest
results: 14 boats came out to fish the derby with all boats reporting
to catch some fish. Dickherber & Jones took the top spot with 4
fish weighing in at 14.38 lbs... The Team of Knausts
& Bogard took 2ndPlace with 3 fish
that weighed 10.60 lbs... They also had the Big Bass of the night that
weighed 5.17 lbs… 3rd Place
went to the Team of Hopping & Hopping with 4 fish that weighed 9.66
lbs… Next week should really be interesting. With no rain in the
forecast and some mild temperatures moving in, fishing might improve for all
the anglers. FISH ON
Thursday
Night Derby 5/28/09
It was another Thursday night struggle for most
of the 12 boats that fished
the derby. Dave Dickherber and Jeff Jones
took the top spot with 4 fish
that weighed 13.70 lbs. Their Big Bass of
the night weighed in at 5.30 lbs.
In 2nd
Place was the Team of Knausts
and Bast. They had 2 fish for a total
weight of 7.09 lbs. In 3rd Place was
the Team of Alexander and Allison with
2 fish that weighed 5.72 lbs. As the water
begins to stabilize and the fish
begin to find there summer homes fishing should
pick up. Most anglers hope
that it is going to be sooner rather than later.
Thursday Night Derby 5/21/09
We had another nice turnout by the anglers as 12
boats came out to fish the
derby. Hoping to carry over the bite from
Saturday the anglers were fired
up for a big sack of fish. The water
temperature is reaching the mid 70's
and some fish are starting to transition to
their summer holes. It seems
simple but all teams struggled to find them.
The Team of Knaust & Basler
found 2 nice fish for the win that weighed 9.48
lbs. Big Bass was 5.56 lbs.
In 2nd
Place was Dickherber & Jeff Jones with 3
fish that weighed in at 9.40
lbs... In 3rd Place was the Team of Alexander
& Allison with 3 bass that
weighed 8.82 Lbs. A special thanks to
Chris Jones who stuck around after
the weigh in to grill up some food for the
anglers. It's always a good time
in Lake
St. Louis on and off
the lake. Hope to see everyone next week.
Saturday
Tournament 5/16/09
FISH ON. What a difference a couple of days
can make. For the last few
years we have been looking for a big sack of
fish and the Team of Knaust &
Basler found just that. They had a 5 fish limit that
weighed in at a heavy
19.40 lbs. In 2nd Place was the Team of Dickherber
& Jeff Jones with 5 fish
that weighed 16.02 lbs. They had a real nice Big
Bass that weighed 6.64 lbs.
Of the 7 boats that fished on Saturday, there
were 19 keeper fish weighed.
Thursday
Night Derby 5/14/09
Spawning bass, post-pre spawn, who knows?
One thing for sure, the bite was
slow for the 8 boats that fished the derby on
Thursday night. The Team of
Chris Jones & McGarry
took the top spot with 3 fish weighing in at 9.19 lbs.
In 2nd
Place was the Team of Rutherford & Westoff with 2 fish that weighed
7.25 lbs. They also had Big Bass that
weighed 4.95 lbs. 9 keeper fish were
weighed in on the night by the anglers. Im sure the morning bite for our
Saturday Tournament will be better. 6
hours of fishing should help the
teams find some fish.
Thursday Night Derby 5/7/09
10 boats came out to fish the much
anticipated Thursday Night Derby. With the spring bite being really
good this year, the anglers were looking forward in putting up some big
weights at weigh-in. Well, it didn’t happen. Only 10 keeper bass
were weighed in. The Team of Hopping & Westerhold
had 2 of them to take the win with a weight of 7.52 lbs... There Big
bass of the tournament weighed in at 4.95 lbs… In 2ndPlace were
the Neal brothers. Doug & Todd had 2 fish that weighed 6.58
lbs… Rounding out the night was the Team of Dickherber & Jones who
finished 3rd with a total weight of 6.18 lbs… Next week
should be interesting. Hope to see everyone there.
Saturday Tournament 4/11/09
It was a chilly morning to start a
tournament at 7 A.M. but 6 boats came out to give the morning bite a
try. The Team of Mike & Dale McCrackin stayed on the leaderboard this week with a 1st Place
finish. Their best 5 fish weighed in at 14.59 lbs... In 2nd Place
was the Team of Olsen & Moeller with 4 fish that weighed 12.61 lbs…
The Big Bass for the morning was caught by the Team of Nagle & Shaw that
weighed 5.60. There were 18 keeper bass weighed in by the
anglers. If the weather can stabilize for a week of two, the bite
should really be good. Not that it has been bad, but there is some room
for improvement. Our Thursday night Derbies are getting ready to start
up on May 7th. They begin at 5:30 and run
till 8:30 p.m... Take off is at Windjammer
Point. Hope to see everyone there.
Saturday Tournament 3/28/09
The Lake St. Louis Anglers are off
and running again this year with an exciting tournament schedule ahead.
The Tournaments kicked off Saturday, March 28th. It looked
good on the schedule but when the 10:00 a.m. takeoff began it was a brutal
day (weather wise) on the water. The anglers fought through a cold rain
all day to find some fish. You might think it was difficult to find
fish when the outside temperatures were in the low 40’s and raining but that
wasn’t the case. The water temperature had dropped into the low
50’s for most of the lake. 7 boats came out to fish the tournament and
3 of those boats caught a limit of 5 fish. Taking the top spot was Ryan
Hopping with 5 fish weighing in at 15.37 lbs. He also had Big Bass that
weighed 5.96 lbs. In 2nd Place
was the Team of Alexander & Allison with a total weight of 14.98
lbs. Team McCrackin finished 3rd with a weight of 14.57
lbs. Every boat caught some nice fish with a total of 25 keeper bass
being weighed in by the 7 boats. Our next Tournament is April 11th from
7 a.m. – 1 p.m.. If the weather cooperates it
should be another great day on the water. FISH ON
