The Louisiana Science Teachers Association (LSTA) is a special group of interdisciplinary science educators. Our membership includes K-12 classroom teachers, university faculty, informal educators, concerned citizens, and business personnel.

The organization has an Executive Council of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Past President. The LSTA Executive Board has eight regional districts with representatives in place to offer local assistance and organizational information. Our members are also served by Board Officers in charge of various committees and tasks.

LSTA is looking towards our annual State Convention. The state convention, held each fall, offers short courses, field trips and two days of sessions. The conference provides a vehicle for sharing the latest classroom materials, program information and teaching techniques. Teachers have the opportunity to come together and share on many levels. Old friends share highlights of the past year and new friendships are forged. Please mark your calendar and make plans to join us.

Members currently receive two publications: "The LASER" published six times a year and "The FOCUS" sent as needed times during the year. "The LASER", the LSTA newsletter, will keep you updated on LSTA events, conferences, opportunities, and membership news. "The FOCUS" is a letter from the president used to present special items of interest to the members. Any member may submit information of interest to Louisiana Science educators by contacting a regional representative, the LASER editor, or any member of the executive council.

If you are in Louisiana and a member of the science teaching community, become a member of LSTA and help ensure the highest quality science education for our children. Complete and mail an LSTA membership application today.
