About Lucy

Lucy van Leeuwen has choreographed over sixty circle dances, most of which capture the essence of poems by Rumi, Hafiz, Tagore, Kahlil Gibran, Chuang-Tzu, Mary Oliver, Jane Kenyon, ....

Lucy started choreographing in October 2000 after she first danced with Friedel Kloke-Eibl. Since then Lucy has authored four booklets of original choreography which she teaches internationally at her workshops. Lucy's dance training includes modern dance, ballet, and circle dance with teachers from the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland.

Lucy is currently studying modern dance at the Isadora Duncan International Institute in New York as well as international folk dancing in the Boston area. Lucy uses Poetry of the Dance as a simple tool to stay centered and grounded in this busy world and to connect to the human heart across traditions, cultures, and history. Poetry of the Dance for Lucy is a natural extension of her Unitarian Universalist celebration of diversity. Lucy holds a Masters degree in computer science from Boston University and has worked as a software engineer for 20 years. She is also a former certified aerobics instructor. Originally Canadian her first 15 years, Lucy currently lives in Massachusetts, USA with her husband and two daughters.
