Uninteresting Facts

Name: Lynn...  duh :)

Status: Single

Home: Here in the foothills of the beautiful state of North Carolina.

Age: Now, why did I feel the need to put that in here? Ok... ok... 56, if you must know... but actually it's the time of my life that I've found that I'm enjoying the most... go figure.

Children: Just one, Eric... who has given me more joy than I ever could've imagined.

The "Other" Children: Again, just one... Squirt, the little stray kitten who adopted me once she showed up at my back door about five years ago.

Things I Love The Most

My Car (1992 Miata)

Yep, you gotta do that clicking thing again  :)

Notice it was first on the list? What can I say.... There's very few things that compare to riding with the top down and the warmth of a summer breeze on your face and in your hair.. Did I also mention, this baby can take curves?!!!!!   :)

Astronomy

Have you ever looked up into the sky with the realization of just how small our world here on Earth really is? So many wonders to behold... all free and for the taking, situated right in your own backyard. Imagine if you will, seeing the rings of Saturn for the first time... viewing Jupiter and four of it's visible moons... nebulas, double stars, galaxies far, far away... or photographing a solar or lunar eclipse... all are beyond words of description. If you enjoy that kind of thing, check out the links to my astronomy pages.

Photography

The lens of a camera allows others to see the world as you choose to show it... it's able to capture and hold pieces of yours and the lives of others, giving you places to return to time and time again.  Check out the images link for some (and I do mean 'some'!) of the pictures I've made.

The Great Outdoors

Hikes in the mountains... smells of the forest, mossy paths taking you to breath taking views that seem to reach infinity... and can only be reached by way of those trusty two feet you got right there on the end of your legs... tubing down a lazy river... with snake stick in hand (go without it? duh...). Then there are my flowers... Give me some dirt and a trowel and watch me smile.

Reading

Seldom is there a day that escapes me that a book doesn't find it's way in my hand... I've had an on going love affair with the likes of Stephen King and Dean Koontz for many years... they're just unaware of it :) Of course, with my past more than numerous purchases, I have no doubt contributed to at least part of the purchase prices of those mansions on the hills that they now reside in.

School Days, again...

It seems I've traded in my over the counter books for text books, instead.  I've been enrolled in our local community college nearing five years now, as a part-time student, working toward my degree in Internet Technologies and a Business Graphics Certificate. And whew, let me tell you, beginning college at 49 was no small feat!  Even so, it's something I have truly enjoyed, but am also looking forward to graduation day that surely will be approaching eventually.  August, IF all goes as planned.

Yay--  graduation did come!  August 8th, 2006
