About The Macatawa Bait Company
The Macatawa Bait Company was founded
in 1976 by Tony Smith and has produced about 70 lures and decoys each year since
then. The name Macatawa comes from the lake whose waters border the
Holland area.
The First Macatawa Lure Ever Made
Each Macatawa lure or decoy is hand carved from basswood and fitted with
metal fins. The eyes are glass and many of the parts are made by hand
from copper or brass.
Each lure or decoy comes in a handmade cardboard box with the company
label. Lures can be ordered in sets of 2, 3, 4 or 5 and each lure will
be in it's individual box and will be enclosed in a master box. Lures
or decoys can be ordered in flat or gloss finish and can be rigged with
a single or treble hook arrangement.
Prices range from $65 - $175 on most individual items. If you are
interested in any specific lure or decoy please call or e-mail for
pricing and availability. The commercial style lures can be ordered in
any paint pattern including frog scale, white scale, or any pattern
produced by the major companies over the years. These lures range in
size from 6"-10" and are made of hardwood. Prices range from $100 - $150
for standard items.
NOTE: Should you own a Macatawa bait that does not have a box, they are
available at $15 each and exact height, length and width will be needed
to order.
