About Me

                                              Greetings and Welcome!

             November, 2007

Hello! I am Frank MacKenzie-Lamb, NG1I, and I live in Cherry Valley, a small village of Leicester, MA which is located about 70 miles southwest of Boston.

I finally became a ham and received my ticket on a memorable but sad day, the day of the first shuttle disaster that carried astronaut/teacher Christa McAuliffe in 1986. For me learning the code was easy as it only took me three weeks to learn it and pass the 5WPM requirement for the Novice license. However, the theory was harder for me as I was a full time police officer in a  MetroWest  department just west of Boston at the time. Within a year and a half, I managed to struggle to study and finally get my Extra ticket as NG1I when 2x1 calls where available.

Due to kids, tuition, and saving up for a house, I was out of the hobby ten years until I came back into it in February, 2004 testing out all my Heathkit gear with success first. I put some of my bio on QRZ.com.

I worked as a police officer in the Boston MetroWest area and became a second floor office administrative commando for my last twelve years. After 34 years of service I retired on November 1st. 2004. I am a member of the F.O.P. and the Blue Knights, MA Chapter XV, a police officer motorcycle club of which there are hundreds of International chapters, and a retired member of the MA Police Association. I ride a 2000 Kawasaki 1500cc cruiser that I have customized for police work when I was working and continue to ride as often as I can. Harley's are great bikes and I had one when I was much younger but now I think HD really means a "Hundred Dollars".

Now with time for hamming and enough "back forty" for a full size G5RV for now for 80 & 40M, this is the first time I have been able to work on 80 meters and I am now more than half way towards  DXCC CW on it. Naturally CW is my favorite mode as I was able to learn the code in three weeks...it was the theory that was harder for me. RTTY is something new to me now and with my computers sound card, I have entered many RTTY contests and have had a great time with the manner in which my interface and computer is set up.

My future plans are to put up a tower with a tri-band yagi 10-25-20 and a monobander for 40M as well as set up a beverage for 80 and a wire for 160 meters.

Can't help but show you about my two other hobbies, the shooting sports and motorcycling!

While in VT, I fired my 1955 S&W .38SPL K Frame I bought in 1977.....I still have the eye!

Went to VT in 2005 on my 2000 Kawasaki 1500cc Classic cruiser
