Bob Hope was born May 29, 1903 by the name of Leslie Townes Hope. He appeared in his first movie "The Big Broadcast" in 1938 in which he first sang his signature song "Thanks for the Memories" In 1934 he married Dolores a singer in one of his shows. After 69 years of marriage they have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. He entertained us from the Vaudeville Stage, Broadway, his own radio show, movies and television. He gave us over 50 feature films 7 of which were "Road To..." movies co-starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy LaMour. Although Bob Hope never won an Oscar for his acting. ("Oscar night at my house is called Passover") the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has honored him five times with two honorary Oscars, two special awards and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

Bob has always shown great patriotism by entertaining the troops all over the world for over 6 decades, whether the country was at war or in a time of peace. It started in May 1941 when Bob aired his radio show for the troops in March Field, CA. Though out World War II all but 2 of his radio shows were aired from military bases. He continued to entertain in front of the troops for the next 6 decades including Operation Desert Storm. His daughter quoted him just weeks ago as saying he wished he could be with our troops in Iraq, 'The doctors are keeping me down here but my heart is with them,''

Where else would I hide this box but Mount HOPE Park!!!! From Rte 195 take Rte 89. Pass over dike. Travel 1 mile and you will see the park on your right.

Walk pass gate to the open field. Cross the field keeping the tree line to your right. Spy the row of hemlocks in front of you. Walk to the right of the hemlocks. Continue over dam. Straight ahead you will come to a clearing. To your right there are fence posts laying down with a leaning tree above. Face the posts and walk 14 paces into the woods to a fallen tree with 2 large arms. Where the two arms meet making a V you will find Mr. Hope.
