Welcome to
Marilyn Ann (Todd) McCoskey's
Genealogy Homepage.

I was born in Inglewood, California and attended Inglewood High School (Class of 1954). Graduated from El Camino College (AA), Pepperdine University (BSA) and California State University, Dominguez Hills (MSA).

I retired from TRW in Redondo Beach, California in November 1992 after 30 years and am currently living a retirees life in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

I have a continuing interest in genealogy. We have been working on a family history book of the Todd family which has now expanded into the other family lines. On my paternal side, the family names being researched include Todd, Briggs, Hogue and Meacham. On my maternal side, the family names being researched include Kempton and Morrison (Morisseau in Quebec), and Bonneau.

Our Todd lineage starts with Alexander Todd who came from Ireland in 1820 to Philadelphia and on to Peoria County, Illinois in 1840 and we are currently researching that era. Have not been able to verify his existence in Philadelphia in 1826 when he purportedly married Ann Manes (daughter of Robert Manes and Mary Campbell) on June 19, 1828. Have been unable to connect any siblings to Alexander Todd nor his parents. Am working on documenting Alexander Todd's offspring and their families. Alexander and Ann had 11 children, 4 born in Philadelphia, Pa. and the other 7 being born in Peoria County, Ill. These children are: Margaret Todd, b. Feb. 13, 1831 who married Riley Scott on July 29, 1847; Alexander Todd, b. Aug. 17, 1833, who married Maida West on Sept. 25, 1856; Elizabeth Ann Todd b. June 14, 1836, who married Martin Gardner July 6, 1856; Robert Mitchell Todd, b. June 24, 1839, who married Helen D. Bourne Jan. 22, 1863; John Todd, b. Feb. 5, 1842, who married Mollie ? (Nov. 1871), Mary ?, and Alice Handy (Apr. 1889); James Todd, b. Apr. 15, 1844, d. Jul 26, 1864; Mary Todd, b. Jul 28, 1846, who married Andrew German Dec. 11, 1876; Quinton Todd, b. Jul 20, 1848, who married Ella Elvira Minnesota Meacham, Oct. 15, 1874; Isabella Jean Todd, b. Nov. 5, 1850, d. Jun 4, 1851; Archibald Campbell Todd, b. Jan. 22, 1853, who married Ella Jane (Jennie) Reeves Aug. 21, 1879; and William Henderson Todd b. July 31, 1855, who married Hannah (Anna) Espy Stewart Sept. 6, 1878. I descend from Quinton Todd.

Briggs (paternal grandmother) from the Tekamah, Nebraska area. The Briggs family includes Rufus Stephen Briggs born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1842 and his wife, Mary Hogue, born in Ritchie County, West Virginia (previously a part of Virginia at time of her birth in 1842). Rufus was the son of Samuel B. Briggs, b. about 1804 in North Carolina and Mary Johnston, b. about 1803 in Tennessee. Rufus had the following siblings: Louisa Briggs, b. about 1830; Alvira C. Briggs, b. about 1835; Armina J. Briggs, b. about 1840; Nancy S. Briggs, b. about 1844 and Margaret E.P. Briggs, born about 1849. Mary Hogue's parents were James A. Hogue born January 20, 1812 in Virginia and Sarah Satterfield born in Virginia March 26, 1823. Mary's siblings included Jonathan S. Hogue, b. 1845; Isabella Hogue, b. Aug. 21, 1846; Julina Hogue b. Jan. 17, 1851, who married Josephus Corbin Dec. 22, 1870; Lucinda J. Hogue, b. 1853, who married James W. Heaton, May 12, 1877; Caroline Hogue, b. 1856 who married J. Lemuel Poe, Oct. 21, 1877; Emma Hogue, b. 1859, who married Charles A. Hayhurst, Feb. 15, 1885; Artesmasa E. Hogue, b. 1862, who married Caleb J. Hamilton Mar. 11, 1894; James S. B. Hogue, b. 1865; and William (Willie) B. Hogue, b. 1870, who married Della Pratt and then Independence Broadwater.

My father was born in Tekamah, Nebraska on Feb. 28, 1902. His mother died when he was 2 years old, she was born Minnie Sarah Briggs (daughter of Rufus Stephen Briggs and Mary Hogue) on July 12, 1885 and died November 24, 1904 in Wausa, Nebraska.

On my maternal side, we are researching Kempton (my mother's father from the Worcester, Mass. area). My maternal grandfather was William Cutler Kempton 1885-1962, through John Sullivan Kempton 1838-1921, through Abram Wilson V. Kempton 1811-1885, through Ezra Kempton 1776-1853, through George Kempton 1750-1853, through John Kempton 1707-1787, through John Kempton 1676-1749, through Ephraim Kempton 1649-16??, through Ephraim Kempton 1623-1655, through Ephraim Kempton 1582-1645. Morrison/Morisseau (my maternal grandmother from the Upton, Mass area) preceded by Shefford County, township of Stukeley in the Province of Quebec (from 1673 to 1855); and the Bonneau line (maternal grandmother's mother). The Bonneau line comes from the Montreal Quebec area, preceded by France.

I would welcome any information on any of these lines.

My Granddaughters mothers side is Yamamoto and Man, both born in Hawaii.
