I have worked as an expert witness for both the defense and the plaintiff since 2002. These cases have all involved outdoor recreation and/or recreation. My areas of expertise include whitewater boating, rock climbing, horseback riding and therapeutic camping programs. My area of greatest expertise is in whitewater boating that I started doing instruction for in 1972 and still do at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC.
I have worked as a risk manager for the Worldwide Outfitter and Guide Association (WOGA) since 1988. WOGA is a risk retention purchasing group that provides liability insurance for outfitters and guides through out the world. I have given talks on Risk Management to Outfitter and Guide conferences through out the country and am widely considered to be an authority on the subject as it relates to outfitting and guiding.
