ARMOR (Affiliation of Risk Managent for Outdoor Recreation) is an independent risk management-consulting firm that offers a comprehensive range of services to the professional outdoor recreation community. Individuals within the liability system that have taken advantage of the industry’s widespread legal ignorance have victimized this community. Will Leverette, the founder of ARMOR has 30years of experience as a program administrator, guide and instructor both in the southeast and in the intermountain west. In Utah, he created the risk management department for a fledgling Risk Retention Purchasing Group (RRPG), the Worldwide Outfitter and Guide Association in 1988. This experience gave him the opportunity to develop his knowledge of insurance and basic law and gave him invaluable experience as the RRPG amassed the most impressive record of successful defenses against frivolous litigation ever achieved by an insurer of outdoor recreation. This was accomplished through a comprehensive program that combines all of the elements listed above. Given the right information, this industry can take control of its legal future and enter into a new era of disciplined program management with its liability insurance partner. Combined assets are at stake and it takes a combined effort to reach everyone's mutually shared goals. Risk management was a major concern in the nineties and it will be an essential consideration in the twenty first century.
