There are many perils that face the children of the world today. Kiwanis International is dedicated to eliminating those perils and giving children everywhere better lives and higher standards of living through service programs. The Kiwanians of the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville work together to achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.  Our focus is to make Clarksville a better place to live.

  • Our club participates in the worldwide service project which is the elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorder worldwide. Iodine deficiency is rare in areas where iodized salt is used, but in other parts of the world, IDD is the leading cause of preventable mental and physical retardation.  Kiwanis-raised funds are now at work in more than 90 nations, and these IDD programs are saving millions of children a year from mental retardation.
  • Youth programs that we support include sponsoring a local Cub Scout troop, financially supporting a local Boy Scout as well as a local Girl Scout troop. In addition we support two local Key Clubs and one Builder’s Club in Clarksville/ Montgomery County.
  • We support local agencies that directly impact disadvantaged young people of Clarksville. These include the Salvation Army, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters thru Bowling for Kid’s Sake, the Red Cross, the Child Advocacy Center, and the local YMCA.
  • Our club has provided to the local fire department a Fire Safety House which can be taken to local schools in order to help teach children what to do in case of a fire at home. In addition, we provided the Clarksville/ Montgomery County library with a Kiwanis Learning Center for the children’s section of the library.
  • For college students we sponsor the Austin Peay State University math award on a yearly basis as well as four college scholarships for local Kiwanis family kids.
  • We support child care and development projects like literacy empowerment, Reading is Fundamental, and First Book as well as support of childcare and Head Start centers through our annual Children’s Christmas party. We also have helped support the Center for Courageous Kids which is a camp for kids with debilitating diseases located in Scottsville,KY.
  • Through our Memories of Service and Sacrifice committee, we sponsor an annual “interview a veteran” contest as well as the Faces of Valor project displayed in the courthouse.
  • All these projects are made possible through much hard work and the tireless efforts of Kiwanis members working on our fund raising projects. Our major fund raising projects include our annual Pancake Breakfast, our annual Kiwanis Auction, and by far the biggest and most profitable fundraiser, the Kiwanis Rodeo, which has been an ongoing fundraiser for over 20 years.
