(Jim) was graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and served in the Korean War. Jim practiced public law as Cadillac City Attorney, as the Wexford County Prosecuting Attorney and as attorney for several townships. He is a past member of the Cadillac Area Board of Education, the Cadillac and Wexford County Library Board and the Cadillac Civil Service Commission.
For more than twenty years the Michigan Supreme Court appointed Jim to be a member of the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board and he was a panel chairperson of the Attorney Discipline Board for more than fifteen years.
Jim practiced in the areas of real estate law, probate law, business law and also represented victims of personal injury accidents in automobile and other injury cases. Jim was a lawyer for many senior citizens and for many persons who had disabilities and required special care. For many years Jim was an active member of the North Central Community Mental Health Service Recipient Rights Advisory Committee, serving Crawford, Missaukee, Roscommon, and Wexford Counties. He was also a long term member of the Citizens for Better Care Medicaid Eligibility Referral Panel.
Jim is married to Lois and enjoys his children and grandchildren.
