“Hay
foot, straw foot.”
Ever hear of Ed Cogswell? No, not the guy who played first base for the Troy Trojans in 1880. This Cogswell isn’t as well known—he’s involved in the area of secrecy and security where it pays to keep a low profile—but his thinking is every bit as dangerous to the defense of the United States as that other Cogswell’s glove was to the Troy infield. He works for the FBI. He’s one of Robert Mueller’s men. He’s a spokesman—one of many, apparently.
The Bureau is “under a hiring push this year,” one of them said recently. They need more Arabic-speaking agents. And, ”One of the things that the FBI believes in is diversity,” said another spokesman, maybe the same one. “Diversity is important.” It must be—someone mentions it every five seconds. So because of the importance of diversity, the FBI, being a part of the governmental bureaucracy, has extended its Arabic curriculum by “a few weeks” to expose its agents to Islam. Expose? Was that a malapropism?
“I hate the word ‘sensitivity’ training,” said Cogswell. “I would call it an awareness training relative to cultural issues.”
Well, here we go again. Hay foot! Straw foot!
“We all need to learn to understand each other,” said another spokesman, “sensitivity program is jut part of basic training for agents.” Sure, if Melvin Purvis had gone through some kind of sensitivity training Charles ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd would still be alive today. And wouldn’t that be nice. But when FBI officials attended a ‘Town Hall’ meeting at the Adams Mosque and said things like terrorism is “not a new phenomenon,” that it was not limited to Muslims and that Eric Rudolph was a good example of a Christian terrorist, one wonders what they were up to. Was this the usual mindless kowtowing or were they spreading themselves across the anthill begging to be tied down?
Eric Rudolph? Really! That poor guy’s reputation is worse then Mohammed Atta’s. As a terrorist, he is grossly overrated. Nonetheless, the FBI is lucky it has Rudolph for a whipping boy otherwise it would have to fall back on the Unabomber. In their anxiety to get close to Islam, the Bureau has chosen to ignore a few facts that differentiate Christian terrorists from their Muslim brethren. Most importantly, Muslim terrorists outnumber Christian terrorists by a thousand-fold. Furthermore, unlike bin Laden and his monsters, Rudolph and the Unabomber were social isolates. Nor did Rudolph and the Unabomber target members of other religions, and, as far as is known, they did not scream “Jesus saves” before disappearing into the woodwork after committing their crimes.
The trouble with the FBI is that unlike the 1880 Troy Trojans, they have an Ed Cogswell at every position.
“I’ve learned quite a bit,” said one spokesman. “I’m a Roman Catholic, and there are so many similarities I have learned between Islam and Christianity that was a surprise to me.”
Here is a surprise he must have missed:
Qur’an 5:73 “They are surely disbelievers who blaspheme
and say: ‘God is one of three in the Trinity for there is no Ilah (God) except
One, Allah. If they desist not from saying this (blasphemy), verily a grievous
penalty will befall them—the disbelievers will suffer a painful doom.” (That was not Benedict XVI; it was Mohammed I)
And: Qur’an 5:77 “Cursed are the unbelievers among the Children of Israel by David and Jesus…. They do vile things, allying themselves with the infidels so that Allah’s indignation is upon them and in torment they will suffer for all eternity.”
The similarities must be
in the eye of the beguiled. The Atlanta Bombing and the World Trade Center are
not theologically compatible. They require different support systems.
Hasn’t it occurred to the
FBI that understanding is a two-way street; that it is supposed to flow both
ways? But that is not what seems to be happening. With most of the ‘traffic’
headed in the direction of Mecca how is CAIR going to understand that there are
people other than Robert Spencer and Stephen Emerson who are serious about the
war on Islamic fundamentalism?
Who is to blame? Is it FBI
director Robert Mueller? Lost in an
impenetrable fog of cultural diversity, he appears incapable of taking any
action that could be labeled insensitive. He is the wrong man in the wrong place
at the wrong time. He refused to fire Muslim FBI agent Gamel Abdel Hafez who
refused to spy on Muslim terrorists. A little thing perhaps but it’s only the
tip of Mueller’s sensitivity iceberg. He has had problems with hiring and
keeping translators, many of whose loyalties have come under fire.
Former FBI translator
Sibel D. Edmonds told the 9/11 Commission that Muslim translators working for
the FBI spoke approvingly of the 9/11 attacks—that there was an us-versus-them
mentality at work in the FBI. Edmonds claimed that one translator, Melek Can
Dickerson, intentionally blocked or mistranslated documents. When the
Dickerson’s left—they were a husband and wife team; both worked for the
FBI—they took hundreds of pages of top-secret documents with them. What has
Robert Mueller done? He has promised to overhaul the culture. One could hire
George Costanza for that.
Shortly after 9/11 the FBI
summarily rejected 90 Jewish Arabic-speakers who applied for jobs as
translators. It was rumored they had relatives in Israel and were considered
security risks. Yet, the FBI was so desperate for translators
after the World Trade Center disaster they were hiring Arab cab drivers with
little or no background checks right off the streets of Washington to translate
sensitive materials.
As usual Robert Mueller
and the Ed Cogswells have things backwards. Tim Conway and Don Knotts could do
a better job running the FBI. Sensitivity training is a good idea, but not more
weeks of Hay foot, Straw foot brainwashing for J. Edgar, Jr. and Agent Purvis.
What is needed is a program for Muslims currently employed or about to be
employed by the FBI—a sort of get-to-know-the-people-you-are-working-for
101.
A tour of St. Paul’s
Cathedral, a class in the Stations of the Cross—two or three would be enough, a
little Easter ham and if it isn’t Easter, a Christmas ham will do, an inspiring
message from James Dobson, an explanation of Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum.and
a sing-along with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir would put the would-be
translators and old-line agents in the right frame of mind for the business at
hand—to protect America and not to promote Islam. And the next time the FBI
arranges a ‘Town Meeting’ with the avatars of Islam, it should be held in a
Church or a Synagogue and not at the Adams
Mosque which was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood and has been
disseminating anti-Christian and anti-Semitic hatred under Mueller’s watchful
eye from the very beginning.
Why is the FBI always the
last to find out and the last to react?
