Karen
Mazzoline got her first taste of
"theatre" when she nervously auditioned for a high school
comedy. Karen loved it so much, that she continued to be a part of
community theatre, musical theatre, and the performing arts after high
school. Her experiences and passion for the performing arts has lead her to directing theatre for children and
youth. Highlights of her performance credits include, "Flowers for
Algernon", "Pippin", "You're A Good Man, Charlie
Brown", and "Dance 9". Her directing credits include,
"Friends Forever", "Hi-Tops", "Music Man,
Jr.", "Aladdin, Jr.", Rodgers and Hammerstein's
"Cinderella", and Disney’s High School Musical. She is a
lifetime member of the International Thespian Society, and is currently
a member of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).
As a music
educator, Karen is able to incorporate many of the skills she has acquired
from theatre into the music classroom. She is certified in Levels One,
Two, and Three of Orff-Schulwerk, and has a
deep interest in many areas of the performing arts. She is very excited
to have this opportunity to share her love of the theatre with the
children and youth of Northern Michigan
through NMYT, and hopes to continue for years to come.
