So we had a Medical Neurosciences exam on Monday. It
was an exam that I studied more for than any other exam prior. And it
hammered me, despite my efforts.
In an effort to blow off steam, about 40 of us
descended on a little place called Starz here in Birmingham, for a night of
post-exam Karaoke. My contribution was the following number, meant to be
sung to the tune of One, by U2 (lyrics by Bono.)
The term P1 is a reference to our grading scale, which
consists of quartile grading within the pass range, from P1 to P4. Naturally
we all strive to do our best. A lot of it may be "inside joke" material...
P One,
lyrics by Bobbo
Dedicated to
everyone who’s ever spent long hours studying neurology…Who’s your Daddy?
Is it getting
better, or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you, if you memorize these names?
You say one love, P one, well it's one need in the night.
One brain, we get to share it.
The Cerebellum, I don't care for it.
Did I disappoint you? Did I put too much taste on the test?
You act like you never had love and you want me to go without.
Well, it's too late tonight to cram the ‘scripts in before the light.
We're one, but we're not the same.
Apraxia, Ataxia…not one
Have you come here to inhibit?
Have you come here to excite?
Have you come here to play Jesus to the homunculus in my head?
Did I ask too much, more than a lot?
You gave me nothing, and an “F” I got.
P One…we are not the same.
Well, we hurt each other, then we do it again.
You say pain is neuropathic, pain the higher law
Pain is neuropathic, pain the higher law.
You ask me the pathway, but then you double-cross
And I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt.
One love, P one, one life, you got to do what you should.
One life with each other: sisters, brothers.
P One, but we're not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
P One, P One.
